and you're invading their house btw, they were there first . that's your reason for getting attacked lol
I'm betting more, that you play with increased experience gain-- And if so, THAT is likely the biggest reason behind you encountering such difficulties, as player level provides the minimum level that gamestage can possibly be regardless of whether or not you have died recently. So if you're playing at 300% exp gain, you have Gamestage on day 7 that is equivalent to day 21. If you're also playing on 2hr days, then you're running around with gamestage on day 7 that is roughly equivalent to day 42.
By the time you're encountering irradiated zombies, you -should- be doing enough damage to kill them relatively effortlessly. If you're taking 400 rounds and 100 shotgun shells, or even half that, for two buildings, you're way behind the difficulty curve of your world gear wise
In the long run, Not dying does contribute to Gamestage, but nowhere near as much as level.
If you are already playing on the lowest difficulty and zombie speed, maybe turn off zombies while looting.
Turn off the zombies on easy...mmmm So simple, wonder why no one ever thinks of that....
Ok, all fun aside... instead of going into the house, have to tried drawing them out by making noise? Then you don't get cornered, or fall through a floor, etc. Gives you more room to work, and to use arrows & melee weapons instead of ammo.
Q: How do you "accidentally" NOT die? That implies that you're trying to die. lol
Usually playing with the settings will help you find a suitable solution to your type of play. I cannot seem to play above Warrior level myself, I find this suitable and play very much No-guns, just bow and club and manage to reach around level 30 to 50 before first dieing. I hate dieing...
In the past and until recently I restart my game, delete my save and the generated random world on my first death... to simulate permadeath. I have come to terms now that its just near impossible to make every right choice to survive in this game. The game is too punishing and you need to cope with the fact that you will die no matter how well or skilled you play.
Gamestage is at least something you can manage to an extent. Either by changing the game options, or by manually adjusting values that affect it.
I do agree that it ramps up a bit extremely in a17. IIRC, this is addressed in a18 already.
