Zombie Rage
I just wanted to post this so its in the air.
hopefully i'm not alone wanting this.

So i recently started playing again to see the new things added..
first thing i notice is this "rage" with all the zombies, when you attack them, there is a chance for them to jog at first but then they start to haul a** towards you.
It's already difficult enough for me without their "rage".

I got really confused about this and started to change movement behavior on my server..
Didn't really do anything. So i looked for answer on this new feature.
Turns out you can't toggle or turn this off atleast not yet.. hopefully soon please be soon so i can play again.

I really like this game, played it a ton of hours, solo and with friends.

PS: this is not any sort of "hate or anger" or any kind of that sort of saying.
i just wanted to know if any of you guys also want like an option to toggle this off?

For those having trouble with the rage like OP..I don't think the Zombie Rage is what's causing you trouble; It's the Super Zombie Rage.

Yes. There are two stages to it.

As described here; You attack them, and they have a chance to start jogging a lil faster...It's not a very large speed increase. This jogging stage is Zombie Rage. They're a little faster, Attack a little faster, hit a little harder and are a little easier to knock down with power attacks.

The thing that catches people off guard is, If you Keep Attacking a zombie that is raging (IE: Jogging from being hit), It has a chance to super rage, From which it will jump several stages of movement speed up from jogging to sprinting-- This is when the zombie will 'haul a** towards you' as the OP puts it.

Super raging zombies move MUCH faster, hit faster, hit harder, and are incredibly prone to being knocked down by power attacks and even normal attacks.

Zombie rage can only occur from damaging a zombie that isn't raging. Super rage can ONLY occur when striking a zombie that is already in rage mode. So you can prevent super rage from ever happening by not hitting a zombie that is raging; Just wait a few seconds and the rage wears off, then continue the fight. Even if you trigger super rage, just turn and sprint away- Don't fight it, The super rage wears off fairly quickly.

Thanks for the explanation, I will be sure to take your advice on this! The first rage stage is eh but the super rage will make me quit so fast XD

what bothers me more than the rage (though it might be tied to it) is that when you hit some zombies they jerk back like they're staggered but just continue to swing. hitting zombies multiple times with no stun or stagger procs is annoying when the very first and second hit staggered them. it's really difficult to play in melee if you're on insane with this, because even while they're staggered they can break out of it if you hit them again and just swing at you while sprinting. there's not much you can do about it, and i think that's just cheesy. it's like a way to lower your health that you have no control over unless you only use the bow and nothing else except ranged weapons.

i've noticed that the zombies sometimes magically catch up to me with a lot of speed, and i dont really have time to turn around and run. i've also noticed this problem going away when i use the sledgehammer, kill them in a couple hits and keep them knocked down and they cant do this

This sounds like the 'Super Rage' mechanic, which has a chance to occur if you continue to damage a zombie that is already raging. And yeah; generally speaking, massive damage like the sledgehammer or marksman rifle can let you bypass rage mechanics entirely due to one shotting or knocking down the zombie most of the time. Even if they rage, you get your killing attack in before they stand back up.

Rage mode punishes people for not killing quickly or having stun/knockdown builds while being slow - my current play im a perception/agility looter with a pretty basic base - i spend most of my team sneaking through buildings killing sleeping zombies with arrow or spear, only ones that can really survive more than one sneak attack to the head are irradiated zombies and sometimes cop zombies but because I use light armor I can outrun them in a pinch, although most of the time im indoors so killing quickly and quietly is much preferable.

Get yourself a silenced pistol or smg, then you might not feel so punished ... :P
If I could name my pistol, I'd call it ... "Whole-Nine-Yards".

THANK YOU! I had no idea why some zombies seemed to move faster than others and this definitely sparked a few moments of confusion-induced frustration.

Currently, if you don't want rage, you'll have to play the lowest difficulty setting.

Adjusting rage speed seems to work. Changed it from sprint->run.

Do you mean Feral zombie speed in the config settings? If not how would one do this because this would be amazing

Yeah, they definately don't sprint anymore during the day, rage or not.

pretty sure hes refering to going into the xml file and changing each zombies rage speed one by one. should be pretty easy to do honestly.
