Disable "Creepy" Ambient Music Track
A major turn-off for me with horror is the attempt to create tension through the overused, cheesy, and cliche background sounds. For me it's a distraction that fails to create tension. The only effect those sounds have on me is to piss me off. I'd like to see an option to disable the "creepy" garbage while keeping the natural background noise.

The creepy ambient music typically plays randomly for me. It does not seem to reflect in game danger. Conversely the zombies make no sounds unless I am directly fighting them. I am experiencing zombies breaking out of cabinets/doors/etc without a sound and my first knowledge of them is being hit.

I really want hear zombies moving about, shuffling, walking, etc. It feels all backward.
As was pointed out in the early pages of the thread guys, you can if you edit manually the files, just re-writing about this as a reminder! i did it again recently ;)

In A21? What files would that be? All the links I see previous are about replacing resource.assets with a modified version. That file is no longer in 7dtd.

Right, in a21 all I see is resources.resource. Is that the same from a20 but renamed?

I would say no. There was a resources.resource file in a20. I don't know much about unity but my guess is the sounds are now in that unity3d file.
hmm, maybe i still have both versions installed, will have to reinstall, i'll get back to you soon guys if i find it =) sorry about the confusion

Sorry for necroing it, but any chance for an updated a21 version? :praisesun:

None yet. I hate having these annoying tracks as well and I keep checking on nexusmods if someone will update the older versions every week or so.

I guess UABE (Asset Bundle Extractor) doesn't work on the A21 files and hasn't been updated since, which was used by those modders in the past. While there are some Unity asset/resource browsers, no one has found a way to repack the assets back with the new update.
Yeap, i fooled around a little bit but no luck, hopefully someone will come up with an idea soon!

The best solution would just be that under the audio settings TFP would just add a check box that lets us enable or disable these. Let the player tailor their experience and everyone wins.

I personally think advanced option menus are the best solution. The traditional console options work too
