7 Days to Die
Disable "Creepy" Ambient Music Track
A major turn-off for me with horror is the attempt to create tension through the overused, cheesy, and cliche background sounds. For me it's a distraction that fails to create tension. The only effect those sounds have on me is to piss me off. I'd like to see an option to disable the "creepy" garbage while keeping the natural background noise.

I'm going to just throw my 2 cents behind a separate slider or toggle or anything giving the option to turn these off. They are creepy for the first five minutes until you realize they're randomly played and have absolutely nothing to do with anything going on. The game is really not a horror game (if horror is defined by lots of things chasing you, then Morrowind is a horror game) and the game is not cinematic in any way. These random sounds do not add anything, but clearly they take something away for enough people.

Yeah, it's kinda dumb because they consider the NORMAL music to be 'dynamic music', and then these annoying sound clips just have no setting to control them.

Well put sir.
This game is unplayable for me because of the stupid creepy music bit that just blast away all night long. I want thunder from lightning and night birds. even that opossum that keeps screeching out back is fine just get rid of the music. Every time is plays one I cringe and get more annoyed till I finally just stop playing. how can people have been complaining about this for years and the devs not fix it? should be super easy for them to fix right?
+1 please remove that.. or let us turn it off.
I am split on this one, but I often wish some of the ambient sounds would be more infrequent or that I could simply disable them while keeping "regular" environmental sounds. There is at least one mod that I am aware of on NexusMods, made by Gyancher2, but it hasn't been updated since July 2020.

As far as overhauls are concerned, JaxTeller managed to make the night sound more creepy with Ravenhearst and Age of Oblivion by Pipermac has a few interesting noises as well. War3zUK's overhaul also has some great creature voices that work very well when there is no music.
I agree, been wanting for a long time a way to just have the great out door sounds, and realm ambience sounds with out the ear splitting whatever you call it tension music? That is tied into the world sounds a “ turn OFF or slider to off. The sounds wind animals rain thunder zeds etc add to the world luv it.

This doesn’t need to be a debate, some like it some don’t, we have a bunch of settings for graphics in the game, it wouldn’t hurt to add a setting for it so everyone can choose.

It would be much appreciated

Obviously I'm not saying this would be everyone's cup of tea, but for a long time now I disable all the music and ambient music/noise sliders. Even if there were no weird non-nature sounds in the ambient I would just be tired of it by now.

But I tend to modify the weather file so it's cloudy and rains and storms most of the time (I like cloudy/dark as a loner-apoc. atmosphere is all), and either play my own tunes or run a wind/rain and storm video soundtrack in the background as "ambient."

Maybe one day I'll combine something like that with some "sounds of nature" birds and other soundtrack and have the perfect background for while I play this game.

I just turned music off entirely. It's a shame because the daytime music is great and has that bleak post-apoc feel to it that really suits the game well, and a lot of the trader music is good too. But the night 'music' is so abysmal that I'm forced to give up on it to make it tolerable.
That sound music is not connected to the music, it’s connected to ambient sound. I’ve tried all setting it only goes away with the natural ambiant sounds. So can’t have one or the other.

Ive been looking for this option
They should indeed make an option to turn that off. the ambient is nice but those effects like a stupid piano is playing is just... dumb?

Totally agree op, I can't stand fake music to try force emotion. These are the culprit files I've found :

Fake night time music files:
a_night_oneshot3.wav
a_night_oneshot1.wav
a_night_oneshot2.wav
a_night_oneshot5.wav
a_night_oneshot6.wav
a_night_oneshot4.wav

Remove the morning and night alert sounds:
a_daybreak_oneshot.wav
a_nightfall_oneshot.wav

Once you remove those you're good to go, I posted instructions in official forums:

Ty so much buddy, but the link is broken tho :/
Where can we find those files?

EDIT: I've found another link, i'm gonna try to edit it now, since when i play multiplayer i am the host and i disable EAC cuz it's absolute trash so i have no problem, but if you intend to play in multiplayer servers "protected" with EAC apparently you should NOT EDIT ANY of those files

It's not affected by turning the music slider down, it is part of ambient sounds.
Is it still not an option to disable the sounds of clanging pots and pans? I recently found an old video I had taken when my unit visited a bazaar in Afghanistan. The ambient soundtrack could be swapped out for the background noise of the market and you'd barely notice.
