the GTX 970 is only a 4GB card, but on top of that i believe the last .5GB is much slower than the rest.
Remove the mod ?, before using mods you be better of waiting until their is a stable version released.
lol the majority of us have potatoes and are not rich enough to constantly update our rigs indeed
About perfomance, i have yet to try the last version and see what happens, game was running great here but i have noticed freezes and sudden drops of fps always outside in forest or desert while indoors or even at a city my fps are better than in A17 (more stable in general)
I will start a new game with the same parameters as the last one. Starting is fun and the only way to produce reasonable feedback between versions.
Yeah, don't run mods in an "UNSTABLE" Build of the game would be a good
place to start.
I get quite stable 45fps out and 85fps inside buildings(usually limit to 60) with integrated graphics (with dual monitor), the problem is at your side, bad/wrong settings.
a18 seems not to have those fps massive lagg dips, it used to have, anymore, much more stable fps, still not optimized but that will come if balance and other small changes needed to be done to the new content is done (like allways, same with a17 and a16 when they came out).
Alpha 17 only gave me best times max stable 25 fps to ♥♥♥♥♥ 12 fps in other parts, 3 weeks when a17 came out. But About 2 months later when i came back to see is it optimized jet i got easy 45 to 60 stable fps ;)
My bad i was removing a quote, apparently i did not remove it all Oops.
Games running perfectly fine on my 390X but could see issue's with a 1060 6GB which was all down to vram usages which they have dealt with for the most part.
And could not agree more that the fps seems way more stable in A18 than it ever did in A16.4 or A17.
minimizing the game can make problems for me even more so if it's over a fairly length of time but really a none issue, just don't do it hehe.
I'm running the game as i said with integrated graphics AMD 2200g that means really high latency with vram as it uses my system ram as vram (both with 750mb and 2gb the fps seemed the same maybe 2fps better with the 2gb settup), my system ram is clocked to 3200mhz and good/correct timings (not hand tuned, using factory optimized preset) same with the integrated gpu, all stock.
Also i forgot to mention i am using Linux and have had Zero problems minimizing or changing to any other screen and/or virtualscreen, only problem i saw (mostly not game related) is when i move the game to another screen with different scale(from 16:9 to 16:10 or the other way) while game is already loaded it messes up the mouse capture/pointing, but if you launch the game on any of the screens in the beginning all is correct.
Also another thing is that vulcan was implemented in 17 but screen was all pink ingame, now all works fine(but has major input lag), Vulkan had much higer fps highs than in gl renderer before this week, but this weeks updates have changed that, atleast the GL renderer now has much better performance and with both renderers i have not seen any such lag spikes there used to be, supper stable even with my puny potato here.
And when i have the setting on, inside buildings my fps goes throw the roof, as high as 120fps last night.
There are major performance gains since last versions, not seen that well jet but the dev team is doing supper job in my opinion. (Y)
Also the new all items and skills learnable with "blueprints" is a supper nice addition having lots of fun with that, not still sold with the skill optioning/restructuring jet and dislike that steel is so hard to reach, 50 hours of gameplay with the a18 still not even close even tho i already have manage to get all top tier weapons and armor (military and swat t6 same with t6 all guns and so on).
I have noticed there's major shortness of nitrate, duct tape and rotten meat, thankfully you do not need that much rotten meat if you do not do farming but you need nitrate for so so many things.
Getting/making enought of duct tapes is getting harder and harder as you use them for everything, like 80% of all item/tool/weapon/wearables/vehicles and so on craftings not to mention repairing everyting, even the military armor (who do you need military fabrics then? ).
Another thing that is ffed up is that for steel tools you need Steel tool parts... ?!?!?!
Ok sorry went on a ramble here.. overall yeah theres several really really nice and welcomed things in the a18 but also many not jet balanced or fixed/optimized things so we need to wait and hope .. :)
NB I allways use 2 screens, one i play 7d2d and in another i watch youtube at the same time(if not youtube then a movie or series, have never played the game without a video running on the other screen), youtube hurts the fps a lot, so as soon as i turn down the resolution from 1080p to 480p on youtube the game gets insta 10-30 fps.
