The "smart" zombies were an AI test for the bandits coming in a future Alpha. They'll mostly be back to the way they used to be in A16 for A18.
A17 has been out for a long time now, almost a year. It's funny how these same complaints pop up almost daily so far down the road. It'll be refreshing to see all the new complaints in a couple weeks.
Hope its released wjen i get back home from the sea🤞
7days is waaaaaay less buggy than other released games from big publishers. Lately I've played Deus Ex (Eidos), Rage (Bethesda+Id) , and VerminTide 2. All of them have constant bugs. Everything from enemy dropped loot falling through the bottom of the world and gone forever, to texture streaming pop-in issues, to ambient sounds cutting out which requires a restart.
To be sure, most of those are ones I am extremely unlikely to get...and most of what I play is some flavor of 2-d game like factorio, don't starve, or Oxygen Not Included, or Creeper World...
but I can easily see this as being less buggy than a lot of the popular 3d games, for all its issues.
as for the op-
It seems to be way less bad than when A17 first came out-it seemed that every single house was a clown car that would spawn a dozen zombies right on top of you while you were inside of it; the only exceptions were the incredibly busted minor POIS you could find in the wateland and burnt biome (which made these biomes ironically safer than other biomes for new players) And no, these weren't zombies busting out of cubboards. Zombies busting out of cubboards make noises, these zombies didn't make any noise until they attacked you.
It is nice, and i really do have fun with the Dungeon style ones, but it would be nice for a mix of the 2.
And on the front of Smart zombies... I can't tell you how many players on my Server complain about this. Just 15 minutes ago I had a new player to the game destroy his house and quit becuase he was tired of "not being able to just make a home, due to having to focus on AI manipulation"
Which I agree with. I mean, you have to have a threat, but i really hate that zombies are smart and can detect where the Doors are. Although I understand this is a mechanic in place to test Bandit AI, and will be removed when Bandits are reintroduced.

I would like them to return dangerous cities like in A15, full of cops, spiders, dogs and of course the good stuff. Populated areas should be the last place you want to be in zombie apocalypse scenario, very dangerous but very rewarding aswell.
Are you a Viking out pillaging?
Yes😂
