How do I diagnose lighting problems?

Sometimes 7DTD does weird things with lighting, at least in A15.1. I'm looking for solutions.

The weird things are:

1. light sources --- flashlights mounted on weapons or handheld, as well as torches --- do not illuminate in some locations. These locations can be in my base, above-ground, underground. Urban environments and forests.The unilluminated areas seem to be in a permandent shadow, and move with the time of day.

2. When this happens, my character icon is blacked out when I TAB and check out my clothing.

3. This problem is intermittent. Somedays restarting my machine makes it go away. Sometimes it doesn't. I've fiddled with the video settings. Still no love.

Any suggestions beyond delete and reinstall?

I believe verifying your game cache lets you confirm your installation is good w/o delete/reinstall

Did that, but thanks for confirming. Means I might be able to keep my old games!

It could be related with the UMA texture resolution problem maybe?
Try lowering it in the settings and see if that helps. :-|

I mostly get weird lighting issues under the snow biome, drives me nuts sometimes when trying to mine. I'll have to check my character next time to see if same as you described.

SOLUTION! Once I reverted back to stable A15.0 from stable A15.1, the lighting problems resolved. FPS improved, too, back to 15-20 FPS.
