It's more like an intentional hindrance to keep you from having a clear shot, just like the forever changing light patterns and the un-focusable, portable, light sources you carry around. Like the triple canopy cloud layers that always filter out the sun. On rare occasions you get a non-cloudy day, but when you do get one only half of the sun's rays light up the country side thus causing you to turn on your miners light, while outside, after 2pm. Like the constant rain and light fog that starts when you leave the house and stops when you re-enter, regardless of the fact that you turned off all the fog probabilities in your xml files. like swinging an axe or pickaxe w/o hitting anything causes damage to that tool, or, like spending 40 forged steel bars to repair a damaged steel log spike that only costs 10 to make. The list goes on and on to keep you from ever getting a firm foot hold to achieve any type of equality against your dead adversaries.

Don't forget...

removing the crosshairs from ranged weapons to make aiming almost impossible; having zombies duck, twist, jerk, or move the very second your ranged weapon is fired at them; zombie bees that move out of harm's way the moment you get a bead on them with your ranged weapon; nerfing blocks so that building a base is irrelevant because zombies will cut through even reinforced concrete as though it were butter; 100 wood to make one spike which does next to no damage to zombies (but will kill you if you so much as look at it), and is destroyed almost instantly by a zombie's touch; changing the game so zombies receive zero damage when falling into a sixty-block deep pit; when building a farm, having to dig up 12 blocks of dirt to make one; fight one zombie, and every zombie within a hundred-mile radius will come straight to you; nerf firearms so that it takes half a dozen shotgun shells to the face (at point blank range no less!) to kill a zombie...

Et cetera, et cetera, et ecetera.

the crosshairs are fine how they are,
The fact is no-one would go hunting with dirt covered scope lenses & if it was found in that condion you would still clean it first chance you got.

Its a conspiracy bro. They dont like you so they are trying to psiss you off. They watch you play and then have meetings about how best to maximize your frustration. The rest of us adapt but you will never be allowed to... you will be targetted your entire gaming life here. Sorry bro. Good luck to ya.

Lens cleaning kits didn't survive the holocost. Neither did laundromats. The only cloth scraps you can find aren't exactly clean of small particulates from all the explosions and buildings falling down. If you're going to clean a scope with a dirty cloth, you might as well just throw it in the trash as any small scratches will distort the optics. Having a scope with a few specks of dirt on it would still be preferrable to cleaning it and damaging the lens permanently. Snipers in WWII did just fine with dirty scopes, sometimes they added dirt intentionally so that the light wouldn't glint off the scope as strongly and reveal their location.
