Hidden treasure worth hours of digging?
So I got to the location of the hidden treasure and I'm at a cliff... I dug a path to the bottom and the cliff juts out a tiny bit all the way down.. and the chest shows at about half way up the cliffside... I have no idea what to do other than dig forever... is it really worth it?

Keep in mind, this cliff is basically a mountain... and it's taken me about 7 shovels to get to the bottom...

I think its worth it. I also find, at least in my experience, the treasure is never really that deep. People have a tendency to go overboard on it. I've never needed more than one stone shovel. I cant imagine using 7 to get to it. Pretty sure it should never be more than 11 blocks down from the surface area.

Though you could grab the treasure hunter perk if you want to make things easier.

This is what it can call for loot:

<item name="762mmBullet" count="50,140"/>
<item name="44MagBullet" count="60,150" prob=".5"/>

That is a lot of good loot.

That's the problem though... it's half way up a mountain and I've already gone past it as far as I know... Since there's no actual ground level as to where it is since it's in the middle of a mountainside that's damn near a 90 degree angle from the ground, I'm just debating if it's worth getting the wood to make frames and figure out exactly where it is within this mountainside.

I usually find it within half of a stone shovel, I've even found one that was simply in a hole on the side of a mountain, but this is the first time it's been inside the pits of hell itself lol

u can still use an exploit.
dig down, dig a 2 block high tunnel and you will be able to stand in it and look through the ceiling. should be easy to spot the chest this way.

Well that marks the first treasure I've ever just given up on... Just wasted an entire day digging out this entire mountain from top to bottom to 5 deep right on top of the chest in a 6x6 radius around the center...

Your text is a bit hard to follow. As I understand it you have a map that shous that the chest is inside a cliff? And stone is hard to dig through?

Treasures are normaly within 3 blocks under ground. Regardless if it's on a mountain or not. There is a trick to triangulate the exact X,Y position even with crappy treasure skill, it's a bit of a exploit but in this case it may be necessary:

Make some frames (about 16).
Walk N<->S and E<->W and mark where the chest stops blinking. The chest should be within this area.

Here comes the trick. The patch marked for the chest's position is randomly placed approximately over the chest everytime you log in to the game. So:

Log out and place 4 Frames again - make them double so you can see the difference from the first batch.

Where the two areas INTERSECT is where the chest hould be. Keep only those frames, remove the ones outside the intrersecting area.

Log out and in and repeat until you get a max 2x2 area. Diging here will reveal the chest.

good luck.

Yes it is worth it. I wore out one steel and two stone spades and dug half the side of the mountain but got an SMG rifle.:steamhappy:

Going directly 3 blocks would be fine if the center of the chest was on the top of something, rather than half way down on the side of an almost directly vertical cliff.

So have you seen the chest through the ground?

It really should be 3-5 blocks down. if you locate where on the _sloping_ hillside in X,Y coordinates then at exactly that point it _should be_ 3-5 blocks in Z direction.

Now I wanna join your game just to find the treasure.. :P

I just hoard my treasure maps after I cannot read more until I get the perk that makes it easier to find treasure leveled. Then it takes no time at all (on a bike) to go around and get rich in no time flat. Is it worth it though... IMO it is.

The last treasure i've dug up contained 10k Duke Coins, around 13 silver, 5 gold and 3 raw diamonds. So, kind of yes.
Dynastron Dec 15, 2016 @ 11:22am
My last treasure had 5 digits of Dukes and a complete sniper rifle.

So very worth it.
Ok Thalmor Dec 15, 2016 @ 12:24pm
The only treasure my brother has dug up contained at least 20,000 dukes tokens plus gold, silver, and at least 300 of each 10mm and rifle rounds.

If it wasn't a single player game, I'm pretty sure I'd be happy to let you go at it lol
