Advanced Electricity Tutorial
While hopefully by now most everyone have spent time playing around with all of the electrical items, but I wanted to get through all of the items that I hadn't previously covered in my basic electricity tutorial.

---> Tutorial - Advanced Electricity <---

1) Battery bank
2) Solar bank & Solar cells
3) Basic switch
4) Electrical timer relay
5) Spotlight
6) Speaker
7) Motion Sensor
8) Trigger plates (1x1/1x5)
9) Trip wire post

What cool and innovative builds do you have that utilizes these items? Are there any that could/should be changed to make them more effective or even just work better? For instance I've heard someone mention they use the switches as relays, as they have a 0 power draw (vs 1 of relay) and as an added bonus allows one to see if there's power going through it. Maybe there are other nice ways to use the other items.

Nice one again! Thumbs up! 👍🏻 😉

Do you know if you can add 2 generators together? Since there is only 1 input available, you have to connect them in series, do they add up the power?

Afaik you can only connect ONE generator (whether solar bank or generator bank) to a battery bank if that helps you.
Try it in creative mode if you can connect two generators to one curcuit, but i doubt it.

This is a fantastic tutorial! TY :7days:

You can't connect two generators together period. There's no way to add two together, full stop. Generators won't accept power inputs, and no block will accept two inputs. So there's no way to do it.

All the nice people already said it, but unfortunately a circuit can only contain 1, since there is only one input. With how they have currently implemented, it's probably not an easy fix for them to allow more than one, as the power calculations probably traverse the whole circuit and keeps tabs, and multiple inputs makes that messy. Because generators can connect to multiple outputs, you would end up with generators serving multiple power circuits, some overlapping and some not, which I can see causing issues.

I believe in the XML you can mod generators to accept more engines though, for larger power output. And possibly even the fuel storage.

Nice work again. Since you asked for any innovative builds I don't know if this counts, but it was a proof of concept demonstration on how to place the pressure plate using advanced rotation and then put a plate block over it for protected (cop explosions) and hidden (pvp) pressure plates, here.

Upside down is actually the right way to put them down in my humble opinion. Plus you won't have floating Zombie remains, since the blockspace is underground. Too bad those things cause so much lag.

Now that's very interesting. I've used them upside down before (preserves loot) but I didn't realize that they would trigger even with plates on top. Doesn't make sense! But that's very nice to know, as while it might be more PvP trickery, at least if one wanted or needed to protect from zeds, cop explosions or even friendly fire, that would be very helpful.

Thanks for sharing! :D

Do you remember, i was talking about turning on /off the lights using the trip wire? Figured it doesn't work. It turns the lights on but not off again. Too bad. I thought that is a nice idea. 😂 don't know if it's possible to connect the wire posts to a (hidden) switch though. Would be nice, but i guess it's not working that way.

That's peculiar. I would have thought if you send it a signal for a certain period, it would turn on, wait, then off. But i have problems on some builds just getting things even to turn off! they turn on, but refuse to turn off when using trip wires or trigger plates :P

I just tested the lights with the motion sensor. That works! Turns off when you're out of sight. 😁

Nice! So motion sensors work ..but not trip wires ;) I think something to do with how the signal is sent and trip wires having problems with prolonged powering :P
