Thanks for your answers
I play Valmod too, scavenging, QJ, construction tools and bad mechanic morre or lrss maxed.
Wih a 600 qual wrench a car takes two hits...
Funny thing is while lower in level and skills I found more batteries and of better quality than now
Random is a mean mistress....

1) Quality of wrench doesnt matter. Number of strikes doesnt matter. when the durability reaches a certain point it determines if there is any *Special Loot* (I.E Battery Engine Radiator) and once you cross that threshold you either get one of the three or none of them. from experience i never gotten two or three of them when this threshold was crosssed. if i got a battery thats all i got, if i got a radiator thats all i got, if i got an engine thats all i got.
2) As Arturo said Bad Mechanic = friend. When i reach lv 3 i almost always walk away with one of those three special loots mostly engines (love it) never raised it beyond that so this has not been 100% tested however just 3 levels guarenteeed me a special loot per car.
3) Cars come in three stages. Complete. Worn. Dissassembled. DO NOT LOOK FOR COMPLETE. You can not get any special loot from complete cars until you break them down to Worn. unless you can not find any Worn Cars then by all means start breaking these puppies down. However if you need leather this is a good way to work on both getting leather and working on your construction skill while also looking for in your case Batteries.
As i metioned before this is all from my experience. Use this experience and see if anything changes for you.
Thanks for the info about threshold, that clarifies the mechanics for me. As I mentionned before I got more batteries while I was lower (3 or4) in Bad Mechanic....maybe there's a hicup in progression....like with scavenging, some time ago.
