It does decent Entity (zombie, dogs, etc) damage and good block damage.
It also has better durability than the regular stone axe.
(i doubt it makes you invincible too)
Did the music make you jump being unaware of it? Last time I found one was a long time back now.I remember the track that plays being like auger loud. lol
More cool loot is going to be added in still. Not sure if it will be A17 or later, but gun parts are being reworked. So instead of the standard 4 pieces that only vary by quality, there will be something else that will effect the firearms stats. Making guns more unique and less generic with only quality varying.
Plus if you have seen the latest videos the art guys are redoing house interiors completely to give the a dungeon like feel for exploring them. Which gives the devs more places to stash cool loot too. Plus gone will be eh generic interiors, so if you were in say Naz in Diresville, each house should be a unique experience to loot instead of the cookie cutter effect.
Anywho, the taza stone axe is pretty much a universal tool. I think it's still governed by the construction skill, so if you have low construction tool skill it's less effective. It's capable of outdoing steel pickaxes and steel fireaxes in block DPS if I remember correctly, especially with that fast swing speed on decent block damage. It repairs with small stone no less.
Downsides are it's near impossible to get a high quality version of the tool and maintain the high quality. The chance of it even appearing in the apache chest, and the fact that the prefabs that have a chance of it are rare as well makes it impossible to sustain such a tool. Low quality versions of the axe are pointless, the block DPS is just too low on them and the tool would need to be repaired every 5 seconds.
You can kill someone with it for ♥♥♥♥ and giggles since dmg is decent.
Before the prefabs you speak of, the chests existed in caves (though they were probably taken out of caves after the prefabs came along). This was during builds of 7dtd somewhere around when caves were first added. I actually still have a screenshot from the build that had them in caves, but apache burial ground prefabs did not yet exist in that build. The upload date of this screenshot is April 9th, 2015. So the date kinda proves it.

The apache chests were super rare in caves though, so their existence in general was not a well known fact back then.
Edit: Oh.didn't notice my screenshot also has the exact build number. Alpha 11.1(b3) is the exact build.
