Every 3 days, however, a plane will fly over at midday and drop a supplies crate somewhere vaguely near to you. This has an orange smoke marker for a while and is usually worth chasing down.
Actual campaign storyline is not currently implemented. Go, build, defeat zombies and raise a mighty fortress in the wilds, ready to defend any other survivors you may find in a year or three ;-)
A story mode of some sort is a goal. I highly doubt it will end with you finding a solution though. This game isn't that kind of game. It's primarily a survival, hoirde, crafting game. Not an RPG.
Also there is no campaign mode. You are just playing single player I take it.
Also on one of my earlier savefile attempts after killing a zombie i got a quest to join some gang if i killed some zombie dogs, am i also safe to assume that there's an ai gang to join, or are they also not implemented, or is it just a waypoint into a trap?
The note you receive at the beginning of Navezgane, or any Random Generated maps, is the introductory tutorial. Noah - is your Tutorial Guide. The settlement, is the trader outpost.
Are there plans for an actual White River settlement with actual NPCs? Maybe. Most likely.
The random quest notes: aka Challenges; do mention gangs or groups. Are they in now? No.
The AI and NPC system isn't done yet. You've got the first iteration with the Traders. The Bandits are "in" the game's files, but their AI is not done. Nor is the whole NPC / Gang / Settlement idea fleshed out AT ALL... yet.
Hence... it's still an EA title and that's part of the roadmap.
This may be added in the future but for now you make the story.
Welcome to the game and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Thanks, even without a story i'm really addicted, it's kind of like minecraft meets killing floor.
I'm going to set my own progression before i bother with multiplayer.
I'm going to keep creating new navezgane maps till i spawn close to the south east city and that trader and river. Then i'm going to build a cave house inbetween them all so i can often trade and loot the city.
Practice makes perfect, gotta learn to grow crops, and build a defendable base.
Once i'm confident at exploring safely, hunting animals without injury and surviving a couple blood moons solo on 3 difficulty. I'll start playing multiplayer, i feel bad for pros having to deal with scrubs, i like to know my ♥♥♥♥ and carry my own weight, being a productive team mate
There is NO campaign mode at all what-so-ever. You have a choice of SP or MP and you can pick a static map or a randomly generated one. That map is also called "Navezgane" or Naz for shot on the forums. There are no NPC's other than traders in the game yet either. So you will not stumble upon any. An AI programmer was being hired so that bandits/raiders could get added in sooner than later. As there are no NPC's at all yet there is no gang to join. You can make your own in a MP game if you feel like it. Though that would be purely RP and not anything built into the game.
We would be so lucky to have the KF2 team do the guns and shooting mechanics in this game lol That said the game is nothing at all like killing floor. Certainly has a mineraft flavor with the voxel system, though it is more similar to fallout/skyrim than any purely FPS title.
Navezgane is a small map that is unchanging (other than bits added in major updates). Once you feel comfortable with the game mechanics I strongly recommend you switch to a RWG(random world generator) map. It's a bigger map and not know where things are is half the fun. The seed name (the save game name you choose) will dictate how your seed turns out so you can mix it up every time you play, and make it like new again.
re: crops. You need a hoe to till the soil, and fertilizer to increase the yield. You also need direct sunlight so do not build in a room unless it has holes in the ceiling to let light in.
As far as pros and scrubs. Dive in! Most do not play PvP as that will be the last facet of the game to be addressed. Until then SP is the focus but PvE is always fun and you can each level different perks and specialize more than generalize as you have to do in SP. There are PvP servers too, though if you want a clean fair experience I would avoid it at present. Also do yourself a favour and use the meeting room to find a server to play on if you choose to play on a server. You need to join one with an active admin that uses a password to lock out the cheaters/griefers, as EAC is effectively useless at stopping them.
This time on navezgane, i spawned in the north east, and the house had a good location, it was 2 stories, no zombies, plenty of fruit and cotton, in a lush forest biome with plenty of rocks and trees, and the trader is literally a 30second sprint from my house, the house has fertile soil all around it and a river literally next to it, so i got access to everything i need, i set the modded option to daily plane drops with a compass marker, and 8 zombies for the blood moon horde.
I'm going to gussy up this house, build a farm. Spend the days harvesting food/water/wood and ore.
I'll explore the main roads half a days trek from the house, hopefully find a city nearby to loot.
When the blood moon arrives, i'm going to make sure the horde has to trek through a whole bunch of traps to get inside, so i'll only have to kill about 3 (assuming here since i havnt survived to a blood moon yet, but if you kill a wave and another spawns i'll make preparations for that too)
I will join multiplayer after a while, i just want to be skilled enough to quickly gather supplies and be ready for blood moons first, and learn how to hunt properly without dying, i also want to build all the main crafting tables, (forge, chemistry ect) and make a gun.
I'm going to overuse the nearby trader.
Better to use the traps to keep them out of your base/home. Horde night spawns continue until 6am too. 8 just means you will not get more than 8 at once. Though even if at 64 you get less until your game stage has increased and the difficulty along with it.
