No Shotgun Schematics

I am approaching day 100 & I am over 100 in level. I have maxed my 'Quality Joe' & Scavaging is almost maxed. I am a big fan of Shotguns for close-up base defence, but... I have yet to find the Shotgun schematic. I must have found hundreds of everything else, rocket launcher, auger, hunting rifle etc but no Shotguns!

I have a decent blue sawnoff which I am using & making ammo for but I have some great purple parts that I can use to make the Shotgun I want... but no schematic, so no dice.

Should I spawn in a schematic due to my terrible luck?
(I have only been playing since the Steam sale - no idea how to do that)

Should I just 'suck it up' & continue searching?

Just try to find a town. There find a library. Search for books.
Alternative: Find in town GunShop. Search for shotguns.

Wait, there's a crack a book sky scraper...? I've only ever seen the 5 or 6 story library like building... :(

BY the Crack a book sky scraper do you ,mean the place that almost killed me with collapsing floors? If so yes. I have done crack-a-books & Poopy's, even apartment blocks with book cases. Nada!

I've had plenty of those inside the evil Big Pharma building. I even had one room I fell through and into a room of 6 zombies with a message on the wall saying DIE B**** ... I was not amused... :( lol

you can also buy them from trader when you have secret stash perk

Trsders only seem to have the books I sold them... oddly!

It will say what their restock day is at the top. Don't forget to invest in Secret Stash and check out the Secret Stash tab (far right) when talking to the trader.

Secret Stash is 3/3, visit them in a loop every week. It's just od.

In one game I found sniper rifle schematics in day 3, in this game I haven't found it yet, and it's day 146. I have checked bookstores, libraries and big Crack-a-Book building. But, I like stuff random, so finding it is like my final challenge in this game.

I had the same issue... I had everything except shotgun schematic...

Do you have loot respawn on? If so, go back to the crackabook tower each time it respawns and reloot it. I play with no loot respawn but I find one of those towers in almost every decent sized town I come across. Get on your mini bike at daybreak, drive to a new town, find the tower, go up the stairwell straight to the third floor, loot the book shelves, leave. If you didn't find what you want, rinse and repeat. You should be able to do that at least 3 times in one day. That's alot of map exploration in the process as a bonus. Don't be tempted to stay and loot everything, there's no point and you'll only waste time. You are going to have to be prepared to leave stuff behind since you can only carry so much but again, what's the point? You want a shotgun schematic.

Only being at level 100 approaching day 100 would suggest you are fairly new to the game so there would be a lot you haven't seen and done yet. There's also plenty about the game mechanics you haven't learned how to leverage yet, so hang in there keep looking and you'll find it. There's plenty more fun to come for you in this game and some of the frustrations are part of the challenge.

I sometimes think the game chooses something random to make it real hard for you to find on purpose. In my last game it was a compound bow schematic. Purple bow parts for days and I couldn't use them. In my current game it was the metal paint schematic, so who cares, but I finally got it at the trader around day 48/49.

The worst for me is when I can't find a minibike book...
