The pimps have no rights to use TWD characters. Telltale games is developing the console version and have full rights to do what they want with it.
Its not a "sleazy" deal. They just can't legally do it.
To cut a huge chunk of your paying customers out is pretty low and pointless imho.
It would make more sence to make more sales on the skins than to lock it into a exclusive no pc console only sort of deal.
Alienating a third (PC PS4 and XBOX1) of your potential sales seems like shooting yourself in the foot.
Why has no PC exclusive deal been done with anything at all - seems we get jack 5hit.
I stand by my original comments after a year of console exclusive would it really hurt to give us PC guys a chance to buy them as well.
If it can't be done which I doubt how about PC exclusive Dawn of the Dead skins? Now that would be awesome.
The whole reason Telltale approached the pimps was because they KNEW they had the only rights to TWD characters. There's no way in hell Telltale would give the pimps the rights. ....that was their whole bargaining chip.
The pimps got a huge chunk of change to put toward their development studio for programmers / future titles etc.
Telltale got source code for Alpha 14 and handed it to Iron Galaxy to develop the inferior console version.
It was a mutual agreement that helped both sides.
I cant see any reason having access to TWD characters makes such a difference nor would I personally use them even if I had them.
You are the first person I've seen that has an issue with this.
Agree to what? If the Pimps wanted to put "Walking Dead" skins (and as such, use that trademark), they would have to buy the rights to use them. Whereas Telltale already owned those rights, it was just a matter of putting them in the console version as they are the ones publishing it.
So no skins for PC..........sh1te.
Such a shame the game is limited to XML edits for the most part but I guess mod tools are a pipe dream as I really feel Fun Pimps don't give a damn about PC gamers with their console only deals and no official mod tools that I'm aware of. (This is my personal opinion and I don't expect others to agree.)
Yes I know it's early access and expecting tools at this stage is unrealistic but if this is an indication of things to come I have my doubts we will ever see them. ( Other early access games have released mod tools - Conan Exiles as an example)
I'm just used to getting a game then modding the crap out of it and would so love to do this to 7DTD. =)
Also additional 5 or 10$ would be worth for me and also for other I think.
