Is stamina drain broken, or working as intended?
I have about 55 mining, level 4 miner 69er, and 1 point in sexual tyranasourus.... yet, it's still wiping out my stamina, even after drinking a beer. With the beer, it's taking about 8-9 stamina per swing.

I wonder what a level 1 guy would have drained, cause if it's working as intended, i'd anticipate a level one guy losing all his stamina in about 3 swings. Kinda ridiculous.

In order to use steel tools efficinently without beer or any stamina giving drinks, you need LVL 5 Miner 69er and LVL 5 Sexual Tyrannosaurus

P.S mining tools skill does not affect stamina usage of mining tools.

I assume your talking about iron tools or steel tools

p.p.s I think the devs want you to really not just go to steel tools immideatly, either get an auger or stick to iron tools

You can check all benefits for any level of any skill (seek the arrows to browse levels)
Now, check all the levels on Sexual Tyrannosaurus, you will understand right away.

Steel Tools drain a lot of stamina but harvest/destroy everything very quickly, it's intended.

it depend on the tool you are using, if using a iron or steel tool, with no staming gain perks you will blow through your stamina bar very quickly.

once you've gained wellness, your stamina bar increases, and with sexual tyrannosaurus you can use tools longer, run farther etc... and with higher mining skills, you can 1-2 shot most stone, so you aren't tinking away at the same block.

Yes Stamina IS broken in this alpha. Was broken in A15 as well according to the devs but it shouldn't be as bad as it currently is. They've reportedly going to try and fix it but the ease of stamina regen from A15 is not going to happen so in A17 (hopefully) we'll see a stamina system that's sort of half way between A15 and A 16.

And yes steel does drain your stamina faster all the other comments thus far are correct, that aspect of the system is as intended, its the regen side that's currently NOT working as it should.

Stamina is not broken. Coffee now has a use. Grow some and brew up any beans you find in the world. Coffee bean drops seem to be very common now and I'm guessing that is to offset the new stamina rules. Adapt.

Farming is now much more important and integrated into the game. You need farming for paint, for food, for buffs and for stamina.

it sorta makes sense imo. try swinging a sledgehammer or large tool and see how many times you can swing it before you have to stop.

I love the new system

I've definitely seen some weird inconcistencies with how quickly I lose/regain stamina while mining. Sometimes I seem completely winded instantly (whether I'm full on food and water or not), and other times it seems I can chip away at the rock forever.

I'm not this high into skills yet and i fell like everything is okay. Just buy more tyrannosaurus levels and use coffee if you want. It will give you almost infinite stamina for 3 minutes.

It feels balanced to me, if you want to use the biggest baddest tools for a long time you should have to skill into them and stamina or use buffs. Early game's harder work but if people got their head around waiting between swings rather than chipping until they're tired they'd see you can work around it with some practice and patience.

It's intentional.
If you need to mine, drink coffee for 3 minutes of unlimited stamina.

We grow a couple dozen coffee plants on our roof, and just head into the mine with a handful of coffees and a bunch of water (to combat the dehydration).
