PSA: Don't read multiple treasure maps of the same name
If you read a treasure map, like "Taylor's treasure map", and have another one by the same name, don't read the second one until AFTER you have located and secured the treasure from the first one. If you read them both right away you will still only have one treasure quest, but both maps will be consumed.

This got me too :( RIP 3 treasure maps.

huh... did that change for A16? I recall not being able to read multiple maps of the same name until one was located, as it's technically a "quest" and you can't have multiple identical quests running

I'm right there with you man. I always had a bunch of maps in my storage because the button was greyed out if I already knew it.

Thanks OP for the heads up, I would have done this because from A15 I always just accept it if it lets me to save space and time.

This does NOT happen

If you have identical maps and read one, the next time you attempt to read the SAME name it blocks you and says you already have that, the same as any quest. The system does not allow you to have two of the same quest at one time

What you may have done is read 2 DIFFERENT named maps

In which case: what you didn't notice is that only ONE can be on your HUD being tracked

You can read one of each named map, all of the additional named treasure maps will go into your "quests" menu

From quests menu you can toggle which one is shown on your HUD to be tracked

Look:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1087545511

See the text? "You cannot accept this quest at this time" is what you will get for attempting to read 2 of the same identical name

You can however activate one of each named map as I said and find them all listed in your quests menu

This is the same way it functioned in a15 and has not changed. If you are getting a different result than this you have a bugged file and should check the integrity of your game from steam library, properties, game files

Thank you for the clarification...much like DthBlayde above, I was wondering if it had changed in A16 since I was pretty sure you could not read two maps from the same person.

On the plus side, if you take a shot of tequila every time someone said "treasure maps" in this discussion you would be feeling great by now.

Lmao did the same thing back in my drinking days (12 years sober now) with the anime series Inuyasha. Evertime someone said his name, we drank......never been so drunk in my life and I was a 5th of Jim Beam for breakfast type.

Kuno, thanks for the detailed post, however I am certain they were the same named quest as they were stacked in my inventory. Pity I didn't take screen capture. Must be a bug of some sort I encountered?

Highly doubt its a bug, most likely you accidently scrapped it or something. Its been that way where you cant read multiple maps since they were introduced

Indeed, S (scrap) instead of A (read) would be easy to do

Sure, scrapping it instead of reading it would be easy. But when you scrap a map, I don't think it pops up the dialoge with the quest note and the buttons to accept or decline the quest, which both of my maps did.

Shrug. At this point it's clear that the burden is on me to reproduce this behavior, and while I may get around to it, I may not. Thanks for your responses regardless.
