What you're referring to isn't "lag" per-se, but constant stuttering due to lack of memory. When your PC runs out of physical RAM, it starts using your hard-drive as virtual memory, which is so much slower the game will literally pause for several seconds to load stuff.

I have exactly the same problem on my PC, the game runs great on A15, but if you look at the store page, they just doubled the memory requirement! Before A16, it was "Recommended: 6GB" - now it's "Recommended: 12GB"!

It's a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ change actually. I understand how games will change during EA, but to just double a requirement overnight is a bit of an insult..

Wow they updated the store page!? That was something they could have done ages ago. But 12GB... The future is here. 8GB used to be "enough" lol

Lower settings until the ram issue is fixed or play in 32bit.

As stated above the Ram requirements have doubled and TFP has acknowledged that it's an issue as stated in the release notes.

My post on another thread equally relevant here, so via the magic of copy+paste:

So we have some new requirements on the store page ladies and gentlemen....

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 7 or higher
Processor: 3.0 Ghz Quad Core CPU or faster
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: 2 GB Dedicated Memory
DirectX: Version 10
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 4 GB available space
Sound Card: Sound Card: DirectX® Compatible
Additional Notes: Running the Dedicated Server and Client on the same computer will double ram requirements. Also future releases may require more hard drive space.

MINIMUM:
OS: WindowsXP (Service Pack 3)
Processor: 2.4 Ghz Dual Core CPU
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: 1 GB Dedicated Memory
DirectX: Version 10
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 4 GB available space
Sound Card: Sound Card: DirectX® Compatible
Additional Notes: Running the Dedicated Server and Client on the same computer will double ram requirements. Also future releases may require more hard drive space.

So looks like the 8GB fans of teh game need to upgrade RAM now.

PS
Don't shoot the messenger. I was only just made aware of this myself.
PSA 2. Don't lose your ♥♥♥♥ folks on the new requirements. These are likely temporary placeholders until a patch is rolled out to reduce memory intake on <8GB systems.

Today i wanted to play the game after a long time. I knew the game had issues with memory leaks. In the old days it always took hours when you just closed the game normally. Cause it was cleaning up swapped memory. But you could play it for a good time, only after a couple of hours you had to restart it with a fresh reset memory bank.

Actually the problem is when i start the game, it instantly sucks up 12.7gb of my 16 gb ram and after that the system is unusable anymore, cause the hdd is constantly swapping. What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on?

The game is fresh installed and i did verify the local files.
I can tell there are huge problems with the memory management.

There is no memory leaks. It just uses a lot of RAM.

Specs and a dxdiag are required to asses what your issue with RAM is beyond thtat...
