So i compared this to Minecraft
I played 7 Days to Die all the way to the end-game solo, and a tincy bit of online experience.

I enjoyed it, mostly. I haven't played Minecraft yet until a few days ago...

so basically i've played Terraria and 7 Days before ever touching Minecraft and i think they are both great games. Sadly both of them have this backwords inventory system that cripples my enjoyment because i don't like spending more time sorting stuff than actually playing...

My son wanted minecraft, so i got us 2 copies and started playing together. I've gotta say there are alot of things i really hate about it already, and things that these other games still need to learn from.

1) it's nice that on MC both of us can access the same chest simultaneously. unlike these others
2) i hate that my character is bouncing all over the damn place with each block in MC, i'd rather manually jump than have this auto jump.
3) the simple graphics on MC make it easier when mining unlike 7 days
4) i don't like the voxel world on 7 days because i can never be sure which block i'm digging
5) so far though, i can't stand MC because whenever i die my items are thrown everywhere. i really appreciate the backpack on 7 days now.
6) i really hate how damn easy it is to just go in a death loop on MC when you spawn in from death. i mean good luck running to safety
7)on MC i really really hate that the mapping system sucks if your trying to play with other people. Whenever my son dies i gotta lead him back to base because it's not very friend freindly. someone mentioned a bed, i'll try that, but unless it shows up on the HUD i can still see this being a problem
8) and i especially hate having to clear out the tops of tree's.

People say "minecraft clone this, MC clone that" and in some ways these clones do it better than MC. I do not think it's all that it's cracked up to be when you have such a time consuming inventory system to deal with, even with the Just Enough Items mod. This was 1.11.2 for the record.

anyway, to summarize. I like 7 days and terraria more. from my brief time on MC i think they took what MC did and made it better. though 7 days still has many bugs

update:
So one very cool mod i found is this: https://mods .curse .com/mc-mods/minecraft/230976-fastleafdecay it allows the leafs to actually decay at a rate that's faster than what paint drys at.

I'm trying out "just enough items" and "Inventory Tweaks" right now but what i would really like is...i just realized you can put two chest next to each other to make a bigger one.

1.1)Is there a mod that lets me combine more than 2?
1.2)Is there a mod that lets me pull items from nearby chest if i'm trying to craft something and don't want to be bothered searching for the material if i have them?

regarding points 6 and 7, make a bed dude. (3 wood + 3 wool)

you will respawn at the bed, and MC allows you to sleep the nights away if you wish.

You need to clarify what points are about what game better.

You can both use the same chest in this game too, whoever makes it just has to unlock it.

You aren't clear which games you are complaining about with some of these:

1) it's nice that on MC both of us can access the same chest. unlike these others

7 days lets you both access the same chests, secured ones just require you give the other person a passcode (that they only have to enter once). It's to stop others from using your chest without your permission in multiplayer

2) i hate that my character is bouncing all over the damn place with each block.

In which game? I've never seen bouncing around in 7 days unless you personally carved up the ground to be lumpy

3) the simple graphics on MC make it easier when mining unlike 7 days
4) i don't like the voxel world on 7 days because i can never be sure which block i'm digging

That's just practice. 7 days you have a targeting reticle, learn to use it. Until you've mastered it, drop a wood frame next to you as reference. It will be a nice solid square that you can use to judge what other blocks around you are being carved up

MC uses voxels too by the way, they are both voxel built worlds. Personally I can't stand the childish graphics of MC.

I mean I get it; we're just playing video games. But if this were toys you don't buy a preschool childrens toy for older kid who wanted a super hero action figure.

MC feels a young childs video game (which is fine for kids, just does nothing for me)

5) so far though, i can't stand MC because whenever i die my items are thrown everywhere. i really appreciate the backpack on 7 days now.
6) i really hate how damn easy it is to just go in a death loop on MC when you spawn in from death. i mean good luck running to safety

L2P.. make a bed....

7) i really really hate that the mapping system sucks if your trying to play with other people. Whenever my son dies i gotta lead him back to base because it's not very friend freindly
8) and i especially hate having to clear out the tops of tree's.

Which game are you complaining about? 7 days has a pretty reasonable mapping system for finding each other again. You can mark points of interest and of course your bedroll (respawn point) is alway shown as well as previous backpack dropped

Maybe you should be complaining to the guy who makes minecraft?

well i clarified some of things. and as for the dev, yea i don't understand how that inventory system could be considered worth a damn. when i played Terraria and 7 Days i thought they were bad on that subject...what with just sorting and finding things...but then i played MC and now they don't look so bad.

i just ... frustereated because i like the games, until 1 thing (inventory in this case) brings the whole thing down in all 3. Off the bat MC does come off as for children, but i'm curious to see the end-game

I mean in both you kinda can

Turn off auto jump......

3) the simple graphics on MC make it easier when mining unlike 7 days
cause it blocks, and its not that hard in 7 days

4) i don't like the voxel world on 7 days because i can never be sure which block i'm digging
#3

5) so far though, i can't stand MC because whenever i die my items are thrown everywhere. i really appreciate the backpack on 7 days now.
inventory keep on?? or a grave stone mod

6) i really hate how damn easy it is to just go in a death loop on MC when you spawn in from death. i mean good luck running to safety
game mode 1?? or just git gud and beds

7) i really really hate that the mapping system sucks if your trying to play with other people. Whenever my son dies i gotta lead him back to base because it's not very friend freindly
teleport?

8) and i especially hate having to clear out the tops of tree's.
use Fire? and that means you didn't get all the wood out of it

also inventory management is easy in both games?.

@ OP

turn off auto jump or whatever its called to stop that bouncing about.

Well after playing MC i find that the inventory system in 7 and Terraria is better than MC. Not by leaps and bounds, but better. 7 Days has actually come a long way as far as crafting but all 3 games become a problem as soon as your inv is full and you start needing to come up with a storage system that i feel Games should simplify instead of doing what these 3 did.

The mods help, and while i haven't tried any mods on MC yet that might increase how much a chest can hold in MC i've tried a few things in 7 Days and the problem is still there. They made it more complicated than i feel a game should be, and yet too simplified. for example, why does a seed take up the same space a an engine or shield? even with increased stack limites on seeds that doesn't mean i'm holding max, so 1 seed shouldn't take up the same grid space.

I'm just going to tap out on this one, as I have not played (nor intend to play) Terraria or MC. Best of luck with your struggle to find enjoyment with which ever game, or all of them, or whatever is going on in this thread....

Iron chest mod for minecraft, works for every version above 1.5 I think. then inventory management mod, press R to sort inventory and 4 different sorts in the chest

There are a ton of mods for Mc, but if you want a lot more if think there's a lot more for 1.10.2 then 1.11.2

make sure to give mc more ram on the launcher if you haven't yet

I think minecraft wins because it was first, has sold a few billion more copies, is a household name and many of the 7d2d ideas wouldn't exist if they didn't steal them from MC.

I played minecraft first, but I haven't touched it 2 or 3 years now. I still play 7d2d quite a bit and will continue to. No interest in minecraft at this point, but it was the original gangster and it's still great for kids that have some imagination to play with.

In alpha 16 7d2d is going to implement a bunch of build ideas they stole from a certain space game. Evolution continues with sticky fingers!

Ideas are not stolen so much as repurposed. Starting to say things are stolen is a slippery slope without end. For every game made in the last several decades. Not Just 7D2D by any meas. You can draw paradigms between other games until the cows come how and it would never end at that.
