Pressing escape doesn't pause the game!
Hi guys, I was playing then my wife asked me something, I pressed escape to pause the game, went away and came back to find a crawling zed noshing on my leg! What the hell? Is this happening to anyone else?

Of course it doesn't work... you can't ESCAPE the apocalypse! :steammocking:

Escape pauses the game for me
Pretty sure you can't pause a multiplayer game.

You can only pause time if you're playing Single Player. Atleast that's been my experience so far.

I get the same problem from the Missus. 'Sorry, can't respond right now, fighting off the horde of the undead'. In SP, ESC should pause when not in a craft menu. Mine stopped working for some reason so now I put game in Dev mode (F1 followed by 'dm' without ','). Them numeric ENTER to pause. Problem solved. Quick respond to unnecessary delay by Missus, then back in the game. Don't think this works for MP mode though.

And that's the thing that hurts the most - unnecessary...

I love this game so much, it hurts. But the Missus is having a hard time understanding how much of a time hog it is. I think she just likes to remind herself of what I look like every now and then. But it's very inconvenient having to either run back to base or hide in the back office of a Shotgun messiah every time she wants something :-/

Taijigamer...what you mean to say is that it's very inconvenient when your Missus summons you to do things other than play the game. Don't be bashful, those in that sort of situation all feel the same ;)

Make sure you game is set to single player.

You can pause the game... in SP mode. Only in SP mode, as in you cannot for obvious reasons pause a MP game. :stern:

If you haven't already done so you may want to check your keybind/control options to verify the Main Menu/pause button hasn't accidentally been re-bound to something else. Unless you're saying that the menu/pause screen pops up but time does not actually stop in which case I'd say yeah, sounds like a bug (assuming you're on SP of course).

Yeah it was really weird. I was playing my own game in SP and then I quit out to join some friends in their game. When I finished playing MP and restarted my SP game, the pause function no longer worked. It was the same next time I booted the computer. As the game is still Alpha, I'm not surprised or bothered by this as I can run it in Debug mode and get around it.

I've had this problem just earlier today. I noticed that my save says mp instead of sp now. Which explains why the game doesn't pause when I press esc. The fix I found that you could do without installing anything was make a new single player game, copy the main.ttw, and paste it over your save. The only downside to this was, my day count has been reset. I guess keeping a constant backup of this file would help save those days.

I think you can move the game counter forward by using debug mode... never tried it myself though so be careful. :-|
