Difference between official and peer2peer?

As above title asks, what is the difference and is it a simple thing of just being in the same region or more game affecting?

P2P are locally hosted by the players. If I were to host a game and you joined in, we'd be peer-to-peer. As soon as I quit out, the game would end and you'd be kicked. Your connection to me and vice versa would definately play a huge part.


Official or privately hosted servers are persistant and stay up, regardless of who's logged in. Anyone can log in from anywhere at anytime, so being in the same region would be more beneficial
