Items that are too rare?

In 1000 hours of playing I've had exactly 1 machette drop as loot, and I don't think I've ever seen goth pants or goth boots unless pulled from the creative menu

Those 3 items (for me) seem to be the most rare in the game

I'm aware that there's Taza's stone axe, the cigar and the herbal antibiotic recipe that are also rare, but those come from very specific places so I have no expectation to find them unless looting those 3 specific places

But the machette, and goth clothes? Is there some special place these are supposed to come from? Or am I just not having any luck with the random drop?

Are there any other rare items you never or almost never see drop?

dont know if this counts really.... but that special paste thing thing you use to upgrade metal walls for the final upgrade. It doesnt drop though.... only purchaseable in small qtys at the trader.

The goth stuff is either the bikers or the strippers, but the zombies that spawn only near the strip clubs. And it might be supposed to be rare too? I've found a couple in my last playthrough.

Machetes, I don't know I've found a few, but it's not that great, gets the job done, but hte animation isn't timed right at all. Last one I found I think was from the survivor back pack under the power substation, in that tunnel where the ladder fell. Anyhow, it's rare.

Yea, it comes from indian burial grounds. I know there's one on navezgane, I don't know how rare they are on random gen

It's from a specific chest type though (apache artifact chest), just like the natural antibiotic recipe only comes from one chest type (mountain man)

If the goth stuff is only from the naked strippers that would explain it, there's so few places they spawn and they never seem to show up in day 7 hordes. I don't think I've even seen the strip club on random, only navezgane; and aside from looting it for a chem station it's way off to the side of the map where there's generally no reason to go

On random gen they're not *that* rare but then used to (way back when it was a thing) only spawn in cave systems, and usually half burried by the smooth terrain, so hard to even notice, but they were there, now I'm not so sure it's still a thing.

I like the machette for cutting up corpses, it's the fastest way

The issue with attacking is that it has the same reach as the hunters knife even though the weapon model appears to be longer. I don't generally use it for combat because of this, and the fact its a pain to get more. On some servers you can buy them with zcoins. I usually get one just for corpse clean up on servers where that's allowed

LOL...I didn't even know there was Goth Clothing added (or forgot the immense and not-so-recent patch notes). So yeah...definitely rare considering the hours I've put into A15.

I've only ever found Machetes in Backpacks/Sports Bags...but it's so rare that I have no idea what other containers/locations it may appear (and I am xml illiterate).

Also agree that finding a poor quality Machete is heartbreaking.

Close, but no cigar in Vanilla. Herbal antibiotica are indeed rare, but even more useless than rare so meh. Plenty of antibiotics and honey to be had. Tazaz stone axe is only found under native burial mounds. Though it is not a 100% chance even if you dig that chest up when you find the mound. Pretty sure goth cloths are trader only they just got added in A15 so could change. Might even bee bandit loot when we get them. Machette is way to rare as the only bladed non craftable weapon it really is too uncommon of a find.

i usually farm up a purple machete or two in every playthrough, sometimes bad rng and stop trying/caring, just have to make sure to check every bag. You are right that its too rare tho, Sometimes takes forever to find one, About the same rate as finding full auger in a car (maybe not quite that bad)

Ive never seen a goth piece at any trader, and i try to check multiple traders as often as possible according to restocking times. But HAVE seen it off a zombie. Just dont remember if it was a stripper or biker, and it was at the biker bar prefab.

I've seen goth pants at the trader. I'm no noob either I loot EVERYTHING. Don't remember the lasdt time I found a machete. Easliy 25 pair (I'd wager more than) of calipers found for every machete I find.

Animals in particular, I see that a lot on mp servers. They farm out their local region and for some reason can't be bothered to go hunt somewhere else for a while to allow their area to respawn

Herbal recipe is easy enough to get, in Navezgane it is located inside the cabin to the N in the very NE corner of the map. Go inside the cabin, enter the bedroom on the right. Under the scrap iron table there is a piece of floor that is lighter than the rest. Under that piece is a chest called "Mountain Man Chest". It's in there. (there is also another chest located in the Canyon mine)

Tazaz stoneaxe can also be found in Navezgane, inside the canyon mine. Descend into the sand pit and on the left side dig beneath the broken headstone. It's inside a crate called "Apache Artifact Chest. The indian burial mounds in RWG are pretty easy to miss (they blend in very well) so keep an eye out for gravel roads that end next to "nothing". The Apache Chest is under the center pile but there are also 6 stones that encircle the center. Each has a goodie underneath.

Agree 100% on the machete. WAY too rare for such a fun weapon.

I only play on Random Gen and have NEVER found any Goth gear, plenty of facial piercings but no clothing :( and have only once found the Herbal Antibiotic recipe, up in the mountainous snow biome. So to my mind, yep they're a bit like rocking horse sh!t lol

Not sure if I have ever seen goth gear... I have seen the strippers though on random gen maps. I found that herbal antibiotic thing once.... but by the time I got it, I really didnt need it.

It's worth checking Suitcases too since both Backpacks and Suitcases reference the melee item group.

Machete are quite rare yes, AFAIK only the Melee lootgroup contains them with a probability of 0.1 (so 10%.)
So we have to roll "yes" to "is there a melee weapon in there in the first place?" AND not roll any other more probable melee item.

Yea, I've pulled at least 1000 hunting knives out of those bags and 1 machette, it's not a pretty number
