Leveling tool smithing sucks...
I can feel my brain trying to turn around and watch paint dry. At the moment That is more entertaining than leveling 60-100 in tool smithing.

I've done some research and figured out that, if you don't like dropping or scrapping stone tools all day then you can craft iron pickaxe's. Steel, I discovered, gives you significant deminishing returns on the XP to Resources ratio so I don't use those.

So here I am, crafting iron picks in both my inventory and scrapping at the workbench. It's more forgiving, I don't have to press a button all day long...but considering how much iron I need to gather I'm not sure it's really better than a stone shovel.

If you really like spam-crafting then you should at least do it the right way...
Just craft anvils in the forge and melt them back in: good progression with full returns. :-]

Apparently a bellows counts as well. Though with the leather I wouldn't do that.

Well, it makes sense even in real life after all...
The anvil is one of the most important tools for a blacksmith, isn't it? :-]

No, it doesn't. In a game where making a pipe bomb counts as "misc" instead of explosives, gun smithing, or even weapon smithing...no instead it makes more sense for the gamer to assume otherwise.

I understand where you come from... but TBH for me it's weird that it ISN'T tied to the toolsmithing skill rather than the opposite. Some of the wrong categories are probably just an "alpha side effect", meaning they'll fix each item category later during beta. Same goes for the science skill for example.

Remember that the skill system is still on it's first iteration and they didn't care to make it complete with all the useful skills that mods have already added. There's a reason for this: TFP always create new systems, put up a skeleton for testing them, and then move on to the next system (e.g.: electricity). That's how it works. :-]

Blunderbuss being weapon insteed of gun, reading medkit recipe counts as science, making medkit as misc and healing with medkit as medicine, much logic.

That's exactly my point: the categories are just place holders, they'll need some fixing at some point in the future. The anvil though is in the right one IMO.

Yes, anvil is okay but gladly they gonna fix spam crafting..., belive now we will have 6 perks for it? or something like that, never reached quality 500 tools naturaly aswell never spamed bcs after like reaching 250 qualiy, stone tools gives nothing.

For tools I find that 300 is attainable with some sanity intact. 400 might be okay if you start making those anvils and iron picks. I'm at level like 460 now, and the only reason I haven't cheated or spent points on it yet is that iron picks don't require much attention, nor do they hog your inventory. However it takes an a**load of mining to accomplish.

I got to weapon smithing naturally buy spam crafting clubs, hitting drop, and having steel arrow heads craft at the same time.

A lot of skills need tweeking. Tools at least can be made on the go and you get credit for it. Science you have to sit forever watching something be made and have the craft station opened to get credit....I have yet to have a science over 5..lol

90% of the craft skills you have to sit and watch a workbench / campfire / whatever to get the credit for it. Or as with aromor skills...get beat on by the zeds, which I thought the whole point of the game was to survive, not get beat on and infected...lol

They wanted the bench to be "watched" to avoid having multiple workbenches raising your skills at once.

To that I say, let the character "assign" a forge or workbench as their primary, and you only get exp from that 1, even if you have another open.

Then you can have a concrete mixer crafting sand to get quick misc crafting lvls

In my situation with leather I would definitely do it. With the leather working perk and making all animals into leather as well as scrapping things (cowboy boots/hat, lower quality armors you have made, ect.) I have over 2 stacks of 250 leather by working with 1 other person.

Long story short, if you have enough leather, use it. Because if I had known that, I would have started that earlier.

I have been planning on making a "wall" of forges because of their hitpoints and because of mass production. I really wish the metals production was faster, does that count under misc crafting? If so, I am buying that perk for once.
