2 new ways to play 7 Days to die :)
So firstly, i would like to encourage gamers to play 7D2D on max difficulty settings (should have a couple of normal diff. practice games first tho!) Playing on max difficulty (thats feral, always running zombies, lose everything on death that isn't in chests, 25% loot rate, not marking airdrops, insane zombie spawn rate etc etc, turn all the options on the ardest settings (keep block durability as 100% otherwise its harder for the zd's to break your base) my crazy friends cos i promise you: you haven't experienced 7D2D until you have cacked ur pants on a normal night :) Screw all this running around bashing painfully slow zombies about the head with your 'big stick 'until dead, that's not how a zombie horde should function, you should be afraid, you should have to plan every move you make and consider carefully what paths to take and how far you go when you explore. Playing on max difficulty is like a whole new game! Some words of advice for it: Make spike traps - lots of em cos thats the only way you can kill em at first :) Dont bother making ur 1st base from wood, it'stoo damn weak, go get that cobblestone :) You have until about 1pm the first day before any new zombies spawn - take advantage :) You need to find yourself in a decent place - reset until you are :)

#2 way to play 7D2D: Wasteland biker!

This is a more mid-late game method of playing and is not recommended for beginners :) You must have a minibike to do it. Basically, once you get your bike up and running, you must leave your base, and all bases...for good. No chests, no forges, no defences :) It means that play becomes a tough world of constant scavanging - can you get enough food and drink today? Can you find another wrench so you can continue to loot cars for gas? And better pray that by horde night, your tank is full XD. It's a really good idea on this alternate mode to take the camel and the food skill (can't remember the name) as it means you need to eat n drink less. Again - putting things on higher difficulty really make this an intense and satisfying way to play.

Thanks for reading and please comment letting me know how playing these alternate styles has worked out for you, also - any other ways you have found to spice the game up? :) woop!:steammocking:

1. Doing this except all run and delete backpack, no run bcs don't want to be bothered to cheese thro game by spike spamming, spike here, spike there, oh zombie is running? spike, tried in some games to crank up difficulty like this where only a few the most powerful tactics could work and... that's boring, and delete backpack... just not being dark souls player, usualy controling self from save scumming but rarity of crystal crew in FTL and how RNG can screw someone with crits in darkest dungeon caused us to dislike any sort of perma lose.

2. Uh..., with loot disabled and can't hunt/farm it wil become zombie hunt to get cans, maybe trader + can't gather all that useless stuff like plastic, paper, glue etc... interesting idea but not for us.

Have tried this once. Joined some hardcore server, and after 3 minutes got 12 zeds chasing down my back. After 30 real min. swimming in lake finally managed to lose them, began to chop some wood and fiber on the beach, until suddenly I was torn apart by 3 dogs appearing from nowhere in the woods.
It's not real to survive with such settings, at least without some starting weapon and a few ammo clips (like they give you in Osiris New Dawn at the beginning)

That's possible, use spikes, avoid POIs, consider living next o trader and get a sledge and/or crossbow, living on plains greatly helps as they can be lured on cacti which will disable them from running, that's not impossible, that's just frustrating.

Yup, its not only totally possible, its incredibly challenging and fun :) I only play 7d2d in these two ways now, i have not posted this as a sort of - what if scenario, i play it lol. But yes, be aware - its very, very hard. the first few times i played like it i died - allt he time lol and with the deletion of my pack, i got frustrated as it didnt seem possible, but i persevered... Let me break it down for you:
1: You cannot fight or run from the zombies until you have beter gear and more levels, so priority number 1 is to get a stash of about 20 wooden spikes, so chop wood dammit!!!!
2: You cannot survive a night without being high up until you have cobblestone, so priority number 2 is then finding a concrete building and claiming it, preferably a store like working stiffs or shamway, these are fully concreted and only 1 story, they will be crawling with zombies on these settings (usually around 10) so this is where your spikes will come in, run around, drop spikes, try not to run on them yourself. hopefully you will kill em all or at least shave their legs off so finish them and then get up there.
3: once established on your concrete safe house, replenish your wooden spike store and hunt for a source of water and work towards these things: A Furnace, some forged iron, a hoe, a farm, an iron cooking pot. Once you have these, then you are now surviving. on these settings, every single excursion you make is risky - don't ever leave base without 20 odd spikes, be aware of exactly what you are looking for and how much time you have, mark the map. a trader is very useful yes, but not a neseccity (except for the bullet makingon the biker nomad version.)
-On a final note i would say: DOn't be ♥♥♥♥♥ about this game ffs! Its not minecraft with zombies, take it to where it can go and persever: You will learn a lot and get better and better. games should not be so easy to win or it becomes boring i feel. Lets hear from more player who have actually persevered :) good luck!!!!

With reguards to this - the highest ranking difficulty 'server' that has ever been online thus far for 7d2d has been an 8 out of 10 on the difficulty scale...i also had a go in this server and after a while i had cracked it: big ass concrete base, bike etc etc etc. the game was no longer that much fun for me and hence why i created these game modes. im not saying im an 'amazing player', far from it, but i like to be challenged and fair enough, this method may not be for YOU, but i think there may be some hard-core nuts out there! :) each to his own :)

just my point of view: if you're spike spamming, you know where you run backwards and lay spikes as the zombie/dog is chasing you, you're doing it wrong. To me, that feels cheap and completely unrealistic. Spikes should be something that you set before a battle, because realistically spikes require a lot of time to prepare. You gotta dig holes for each spike, shove a spike in the hole, then make sure they're snug enough in the hole to not just fall over.

If you want the complete survival experience, try to avoid spamming spikes.

yea man, thats very true: if it was a real situation, then the use of spikes whilst running backwards would be totally unrealistic, but the ability to build concrete in 2 seconds with a hammer, or to take apart a car with just a wrench in under a minute as we can do in the game are so much more in keeping with realism. Have you even tried either of these methods???? Has anyone other than me and NightmareMoon actually stepped up to the challenge?? Do it first, then come back and comment. Up the difficulty. spikes are a necessity EARLY game. play on and see :) GL :)

Sounds interesting but 2 of my biggest appeals to this game are building and hoarding loads of stuff! Who needs 4000 plastic and 6000 glass jars? well nobody but damnit I have it! :p

I currently play on survivalist and max spawn rate. TBF it is a little easy so far but still fun!
