It was Sham who turned all people into zombies.
That's why you'll often find one in their pockets.
It's a generic place holder for any kind of food/sandwich. Do you really want them to add 100 different kinds of rotten food?
It's the same reason all "meat" you get from killing animals is the same, it's just generic "meat" as the game doesn't need to care about whether you ate stag, chicken, bear or pig, only that you fed yourself
Both of those make useful things. You may not need 1000's of them, but they still have their uses
I mean at some point grass stops being useful, you just stop collecting it once you grow beyond that tech level. Does that mean they should remove grass?
Who eats the canned food? Once you grow your own and/or collct meat, the canned food doesn't increase wellness, so why waste your time with it? Should they remove that?
I make plenty of things from plastics, and those sandwiches convert to moldy bread which is used in antibiotics
And even if you are well stocked on those: they sell for a decent amount to the vendor so you can buy something else you might need/want
Take a chill pill. No need to be rude. I agree grass is useless later in the game. Just because you have heaps of hours played doesn't entitle you to act like a ♥♥♥♥.
Only down side is I sit with the chem station open and then walk off and do things around the house due to needing to have a station open while something is being made to get the exp.
I'm a builder so I use plastic to make lights.
The only item I would even consider thinking of as useless would be iron arrow heads. I go straight from stone to steel. But even that can be scrapped.
**EDIT**
Ah yes, paper. I could do without so much paper. I have stacks of the stuff and never ever use it. (I unlock .44 ammo, and hunting rifle ammo and that's usually about it.- I go from the bow to the mag)
My comment about you being rude has nothing to do with your alleged valid point and everything to do with you telling a previous poster to "stop being a fool".
Using grass on fires and forges late game when you have storage full of coal and wood..... LMFAO, you really are backpedalling now. Grass is useless late game.
You also best look up the definition of sarcasm in the dictionary if you think any comment about grass in this thread was sarcastic.
I am not here to argue about grass but I will call anyone out for being a rude ♥♥♥♥ and happily take a ban for it.
Every single item you loot or collect has a use, everything can be used in a recipe or smelted....it's just if it useful to you at the time or not.
As to grass - I use it a lot! Cobblestone frames at first and later for hay bales. people use hay bales way too little. I like building towers and on all four sides I place 3x5 patches of hay bales - short side towards the tower. They make a great escape route or a quick way down from a tower. Jumping on them prevents you from breaking a leg. Try it - you will love it. :)
The only two things that I hardly find a use for are Paper and Rotten meat. From time to time I may throw in a stack of paper in the forge and ocassionaly I use the meat for fertilizer. But the short shotgun and shells are too weak and after building a 16x16 garden the meat becomes useless.
Mind you, on a MP server I actually once killed a Z in hopes that it would drop meat (this was before you could carve the bodies) because I was dying of hunger in an overlooted server. It dropped meat, I ate it, I survived! :D
Bon appetit, 10 fullness, worth it.
Grass isn't entirely useless in the late game, once you have your crafting up a bit things like bows and stone axes can be combined at a workbench to level them up to 600 quality, you need grass to do that.
Theres no need to stockpile it but having a stack on hand so you can always craft up some 600 quality axes and bows is good, there still usefull items even in the late game IMO.
