Breaking the heat map?
Hello All,

I have recently been wiki/forum trawling 7D2D, and when reading the heat map generates a 16x16 block on a forge for example, it does also affect the next 16x16 block next to it.

I see 2 solutions to breaking the heat map, go down or up more the 32 blocks above base ground level.

We tested going down to bedrock and that stopped all the screamer spawns. However to get to bedrock took 3/4 days.

When we (me and one other) built the tower up however, we built 4 x 100 tall pillars by night 1, built a platform, we used 450 frames, 1 hatch, 100 ladder Total about 2k wood. We put lots of campfires and top and no screamer spawns as they couldnt detect it.

Would this be considered legit, or would it be considered frowned upon.

Also the view from the top is awesome for spotting towns.

Regards

Malk

Well, as far as the heatmap goes it's not an exploit IMO.
It's like finding a very safe spot to hide from screamers.

However there are some Rambo vets out here who think that survival is for the fittest, hence they only think you're doing it right if you charge head on into a horde and slay them all. :steammocking:

why avoid screamers? they bring more victims

What i forgot to mention is that my group play only on very high spawns on insane difficulty.

that seems counter productive. why encourage more spawns then avoid more spawns?

This is our 5-6 man main camp.

Because we found standard was too easy. we all had minibikes, steel tools, handguns and whatever else we wanted by day 30 and we didnt know how to progress any further other than sit for hours waiting for horde night in our 10 layered wood spikes. we just got bored.

So we stuck it the hardest difficulty we could and we still had it all by night 30.

So we just look it how to break the game now until the next patch comes out at of the month and hope the devs make it harder somehow.

The simple answer is, it's your game play it how you want. :wololo::rf:

We are hoping the adding of electrical stuff will add a bit more end game to it.

That or we start increasing the night to make it harder.

spikes are the biggest issue in my opinion. the game became way more fun when i stopped letting it play itself. paddocks full of spikes are an issue with screamers. screamers keep inviting more and more bodies into your defences

stop making fields of spikes and all thats needed to do is kill 7 zombies when they show up. or sit there taunting the screamers so they keep calling reinforcements.

I personally feel all the effort that people go to to make zombie proof shelters just makes them more difficult to actually live in.

There are some end game type z's coming, sleepers and rammers as well as a possible behmoth z and TFP are always trying to make the game harder, soon as we discover a way around things they start working out how to counter that. It's expected that once we hit beta and start squashing/cleaning the code up, as well as optimization the z numbers can be increased. :wololo::rf:

irradiated and feral variants of all zombies will be getting added based on game stage. i only play ironman mode so thats going to shorten my lifespan alot.

radioactive sprinting lumberjacks will haunt my dreams forever

Would worry more about radiated ferals or cops... or perhaps bear if they can be?

I admit a hardcore iron man mode and soft iron man mode would be great, one of my friend had like 120+ deaths in a server.

If it was like max 3 lives per person, great. means if you do die to game breaking bug ( like for us it was disappearing terrain so we would float to heaven and die taking a minibike with us), you dont get angry for these deaths.

Also i wish the grindy skills like tools smithing and weapon smithing would drop 10% on death, incurring a bigger death penalty.

To anybody interested, the heat map on 7days wiki says the block size is 16x16x16, i found it to be 50 blocks high from testing, so any tower needs to be 103 blocks high MINIMUM from the ground. 50 for heat block 1, 50 for heat block 2 and 2 for screamer height.
