Base Storage tips?
Getting items out of my bad when i return back to base is becoming a problem. It takes much longer than i'd like to sort items and just get them off me.

What's a good long-term storage plan? Specifically for unloading items off my person so that i can head back out.

shift + left click the item in bag , while storage window is open, will instantly move the item to the chest. same applies to taking items out of the chest into your bags. clicking the bag icon at the top of inventory window or storage window will "sort" the chest or bags quickly consolidating space. Not sure what "problems" you are experiencing to post this.

quick sort has it's flaws, and i guess people with no critical thinking skills should be posting to this. obviously your either not as much of a packrat like me or you are playing solo

Neat tips, I didn't know these shortcuts!

You're really not much of a pack-rat unless you have enough containers that you really don't need to spend a lot of time sorting.

It will pay dividends if you actively sort while you loot so you don't have to mess around with it later. Put equips to the left, consumables to the right, and building equipment in the center of your inventory. That way, when you get back to base; you can work through each side.

One thing i did when I first started playing, was create a dump chest; where I could toss everything in without sorting, so I could make the days last a little longer. Then, when night came, I would sort it out by specific chest. (Pull everything out that goes in the crafting chests, store it, then do the same for the rest of the chests.)

Wall safes.. Place them on the wall above the work stations that require the raw resources.. Like forges. Then place the raw material it consumes in the wall safe above. Have a few " To Sort Later Crate " by the door inside. Drop of stuff during day 7 hordes or what not in crates, then sort the next night, and place items into their sorted loctions. I use a muntions box for ammo, Gun safe for completed guns. Lockers for armor. Fridges for food. medicine cabints for medice, ect.
Lastly a box for raw base building materilas and a sperate box for complete materials, like spikes.

Or you could just use the labelled crates.

What Gila said. Sort pack as you go. I also use dump chests; pack plus bike means 2 quick dumps and I'm back out. Sort to crates at night. As I get more and more stuff, I start limiting guns and equipment to best three of each type. I set trader sell items to one side in the dump chest too. You'll also get to a point where you pass on more and more loot. Scrap prolifically.

I drop about 8 chests at the entrance and just dump everything into them without any sorting.

Looting day and night and then once a week I will sort out the loot. Usually afternoon of Day 7 while waiting for 10pm

You waste far too much time sorting everytime you come back from a loot run.

Obviously while out looting I am breaking things down to brass and iron (early game when scarce) and I don't keep things of little value.

i use wall chests above/below/beside each crafting station. it's a crying shame they only mount on one direction of wall....

it always makes it easy to organise things quickly with one misc chest for dumping your inventory if your in a rush. just organise it at night.

within each chest i like to keep everything spaced out so when stacks hit a limit the new stack can simply be placed next to it's original.

i merge all the spare weapon parts at the workbench now thats a thing, it's made a massive difference to the weapon parts chest. they used to be perpetually full, now it's always neatly organised.

i might try sorting as you loot, but doesn't dumping it ruin that purpose? still looking to catagorize all the loot when i finally do sort though.

right now i wish the game had a toolbox, i can't seem to punch "dresser" in and get any results on the cheat menu. ultimately i blame the game, they could do things to make this more transparent. Like allowing me to craft by pulling items from nearby chest if i don't have them. making chest bigger with a scroll like inventory would mean storing all clothes and armor would be less of a problem too as on large community servers i wouldn't need to have multiples.
