Wouldn't players just rip of the town power instead of making it?
How? I tried several different ones in creative and I can place them, but only one light is a switch, and that is an industrial light. Also, are there any good windows? Say if we don't want to board up windows and want to look outside.
You haven't looked hard enough. There's 2 types of ceiling lights, one porch light, a street light and the industrial light.
All craftable at the workbench, provided you have the materials (electrical parts, plastic, electronical parts, steel ingots and so on, depending on the model).
Also - there's candles if torches are too "Minecrafty" for you.

We already have working lights. Yes, in vanilla.
Sorry my bad, been playing Valmod so long I thought all the working light where added through that
