Start a New Character on a Server ?

I just made the switch to PC from PS4. Found a PvP server that I like but want a fresh start. Is this possible for me to do ? Creating a new profile does not work, including after I restart the game. It doesn't appear that me game data is stored locally.

It depends on how the server is setup. Whoever controls the server can decide if you are allowed more than one profile to log in with.

The default setting (and what every server I've played on has been set to) is that you only get one profile on that server. Whatever profile you logged in with first is who you will always be.

If you change your game profile from the menu, that new profile is who you will log into any new servers with. But any server you've been on before is going to have your old profile stored there to play again.

A profile in the menu is not quite the same as the character you play on the server. Those profiles are just a starting apperance that you use as a base template. The actual character once established is stored on the server and can't be changed again (unless the server is setup to allow new profiles, but i never see any set that way)

Even if you are running the game locally each map you start is going to have it's own save folder with characters in it

Not sure what you are requesting: when you log into a new server, you get a new character. If you wanted a different appearance you would have needed to make a new appearance profile, then log into a new server and that starts a new character there automatically

In other words it sounds like you did start a new character, (skills/equipment) you just reused your old appearance profile that you had setup in the menu

I was hoping to start a total fresh new character and was unaware of this. I was testing some things due to a gpu issue and lost my land claim block or died before I laid a bed roll, lesson learned.

Everything you started with, including land claim blocks can be crafted. By the time you have a base worth claiming you'll be able to forge them at will
