Allows me to ride out Blood Moons by running out, gathering 4-5 and bringing them down killing them loot, rinse and repeat. (Drawbridge seperates the entrance and killing room. A Second Drawbridge sepeartes my base. Kinda of an interlock. Been Enclosing everything with metal concreate as I anticipate diggers breaking through.
Probley start over the next version and will do several things different (Larger Hall using only ramps, currently it doglegs down. Not good for riding minibike.)
I always go for a house close to a village (usually Diersville) for scavenging runs, but not too far from a pond or river. I prefer to fortify an existing house over building one from scratch.
Once I find a good location I spend the first days fortifying the ground floor of the house and removing any doors and windows. Until I can afford a drawbridge I make it so that the base can only be accessed by jumping into it, which is something the zombies can't do. The remaining days I scramble to surround the house with spikes so that hopefully the first horde won't demolish it.
I also make sure I am near either a) a town b) water body of any size c) Army POI. Best loot / survivability location is when those 3 criteria are met. And I almost exclusively go for platform-style builds. With my main base of operations atop the middle part of said platform.
There's a few screenshots on my profile and I posted a few as well.
If the zombies get inside they next thing they will do is start to work on getting inside your "safe" room. What you want to build rather than a box you end up cornered in. Is escape routes. Otherwise best case scenario you wait for day while they trash your house and try break in yoru room. Then you still have to fight your way back out....
Make a base in the second floor.
Dont leave any way to acess the second floor. Make a lot of support blocks in the first floor. put blocks on the edges of your second floor to prevent spiders fron climbing. Every crafting station and the sleeing bag must go to the second floor. Where the undead must not get to you.
After the main base is done build a wall, and install log traps arround it, three logs in every direction. Let the main exit clean, but create a defense perimeter arround it.
Go to desert biome and gather aloe vera and yucca fruits, and start a plantation of both on your base.
Repleace the grass floor with wooden blocks to prevent the undead from spawnming inside your fort, let some openings to plant trees inside. The undead also does not spawn on farmlands, so your plantations are safe.
The walls must keep you hidden during the day.
Find clay in the floor, build a forge.
Collect some buckets of water, use the trick of infinite water inside your base.
Collect lots of feathers and make lots of arrows and prepare for the 7th day...
The 7th days is the blood moon.
During a blood moon, go the defensive perimeter, and use the famours defensives tatics. Like metal bars to shoot throught. And lots of spikes.
What's that?
