Sewer system.
After seeing a video that recaped everything shown for A16 it showed that there will be blocks that will allow you to make more than just a rectangular or square entrance such as arch ways and circular entrances. With the circular entrances it got me thinking about the possiblity of a Sewer system for the large cities. I think sewers would be a great way to traverse a city if stealth is more your style. Plus just the idea of traversing dark, spooky, narrow tunnels sounds fun. Especially if there is a feral lurking down there somewhere. How do you guys feel about this idea?

That's an interesting take, especially since the new blocks do allow for longer curved blocks to make it in.

I'd push that idea to the official forums and see what comes out of it. Since the Devs do not really ever come here.

Sounds like a really good idea.

I played on a modded server back in A12 that had a huge sewer system under the hub city...it was awesome

Seen a vid once from tfp, showing a preview of the new city in alpha 13 or 14, not sure which anymore. In it was exactly this. I didn't play much Alpha 14 but about 6 months back I picked up this game again and went looking for it. No luck though, so I guess it didn't make it through. It was supposed to be infested with ferals so only for later game play...

More under ground areas to discover would be great. Maybe a mass of zombies down there! Or maybe a survivor stronghold.

I'd also would love that as imho one of main issues with 7d2d is the lack of good maps/areas (as well as at least a little basic plot).
No offense but especially the generated maps are lacking so much characteristics... can't stand it.
But I fear the cause they did not do something similar, like the cave system, is the current state of the structure integrity system.
With all the intigrity failures already happening imagine that with a big swiss cheese under a city...
Every bigger settlement with a sewer/cave system would most probably be just a big sinkhole.

Now that would save me some digging.... *dreams away on that...

It's been created by people, but the main limitation is that it has to be treated as one very large POI and you can't have an above ground random with a static sewer. So for it to dynamically connect properly then it would need new algorithims that would be VERY difficult.

Completely false, the main deterrent is just the spawning. There are no SI issues.

I dug tunnels on navezgame from town to city to biome once ... sort of like a sewer system but without the fancy looks :)

Imagine you have a chess field 1 poi ..street poi street now add sewer parts under every poi now you only need sewer under the streets to connect them only issue now in A16 cittys are not compleatly flat like they used before.

Here's a question: how many real cities do you think actually have large walkable sewer systems?

That's something you might find in big cities like New York or Chicago. But small cities, or really small towns like what this game represents would not generally have big walkable sewer systems

I could see them adding a big poi complex that might have a walkable sewer area, like the missile base already has some broken walls that lead out into access tunnels

But the majority of small towns just use pipes and small drainage systems, not big seweres you could walk through, aside from the occasional storm drain (which itself could be a poi)

I am not advocating a massive sewer system for every settlement under the sun. I just think a simple sewer system for the main cities such as gravestown and diresville would be a welcomed and worthwhile addition to the game.

Right, but as brian pointed out: those would be hand crafted POI's and not part of the random gen getting slapped under every building haphazardly

Not saying there isn't a place for some sewers in the game, it's just not something i'd expect being added to every random gen city
