You don't, aside from the exceedingly rare event that they show up on a trader for sale, once you've used them all up: they are gone
It's like asking what happens if you use up all the nitrate on the map, well: you won't be making bullets anymore
Unless it's something you can grow, resources are finite
And you can't grow engines or batteries
If you have done that you should have more than enough materials for it to be of no concern.
You can mine nitrate after all nodes are gone. Look for gravel dots on terrain and mine it. Then you will see 1 of 4 possible drops - iron nitrate coal and lead. Mine down that line and you found underground nitrate..
And that nitrate does not regrow, I'm not sure what you are calling a node but I wasn't talking about surface nitrate, but the total nitrate in the world above and below
if you use up all the nitrate on the map, it's gone
Now if you are playing single player that's likely going to be a long time. But I've been on servers with 500+ people and 3000+ days, you know pretty quickly which resources are actually rare
#1 is brass. Everything else in rarity gets valued against brass

The vertical dungeons are great sources for higher tier loot.
No, they do not respawn
If what's inside happens to be a cardboard box, then that box is a loot container that respawns like loot containers
But the crate you broke open with random whatever, does not respawn
You cant respawn a Block from thin air (except you use a Block without model)
Means every Respawning block would need a "Placeholder" block. And in Vanilla there are no such blocks
I derped on that part for sure. But yeah, a lot of times you'll get a cardboard box that can spawn car parts and if you leave it then it becomes a good loot source.
