Crash, backpack lost!
So I died and upon resurrecting my game crashed before I was able to grab my backpack. When I reentered the game my backpack with all my high end weapons and tools was gone. I've obviously never left a game with a backpack on the ground but I'm assuming they disappear regardless if it's a crash or not?

So the obvious question is what is the solution for this if there is one? Remaking the tools won't be an issue but finding all the components for the weapons and them being as good as the ones I had will take a lot of time.

i've had zombies destroy my pack but i've never lost it due to quitting or crash. crashing as you died may have messed it up somehow unless it was the zombies that destroyed it, assuming they still do that. they don't try to destroy it but sometimes they'll be smashing their way out or whatnot and hit it.

sounds more like it kind of bugged and didnt' save your pack but saved your death kind of thing to me.

in sp you could always just give yourself the stuff, losing it due to a crash would be justification enough. err, think you have to load the save with cheat mode on, basically creative mode in minecraft if youv'e played that. no idea what the keys are off the top of my head but you can open a menu with all items and just give them to yourself. last time i derped around with that you'd get random quality parts, every time you change the name(add/removed a letter) it would change the quality. haven't used it in awhile but likely still works like that. can probably do entire item instead of parts also, i can't recall.

U key to open creative menu.

I dont' recall if you have to go into console(F1) and type dm before you use U to open creative menu.

=/

We had a problem a while back that some of the bag values changed and there was roughly a 10 minute timer on them (someone mentioned a weird post about the bags being treated like creatures or something odd...dunno I didnt see the post). Even before that, we had people losing bags through the ground, sometimes to be lost qand sometimes recoverable by digging. Since this version of a15 i have lost 2 bags, and even had one vanish off the radar, then reappear. The last 2 times I died, the bags were very far away. One vanished and was unreclaimable. The second stayed on radar, but that might be because I immediately logged afterward, then logged back in and jumped on a bike to get there fast. When I arrived, the bag was invisible, but showing on radar.. I relogged, and found the bag, saving all my good gear. I've had partners always drop sleepingbags nearby incase they die where ever we went.

All I could say is next time if you are far away and see the radar marker, log out and back in. If you get to the spot, dig a lil, and if no results, relgog and check again. Mind you Im on MP though, not SP.

"So I died"

If you died then you must start over. Your bag is meaningless. Why? Because you died. Dead is dead in this game. Playing after you die is cheating. Restart and this time don't die but be humble and always remember this:

The price of life is death.

sp? mp? server you are hosting?

console (f1), cm (turn on creative mode), simply pull out whatever you think is fair to replace (from the creative menu*, U or the lightbulb on the menu bar)

cm again (in console) to shut it off

If you are the host/admin for the game you have full control over pulling out items, spawning zombies, changing any settings you want. In addition to being used as admin or creative tools, they exist to fix bugs as you see fit.

*note every time the items reload the quality changes, so if you want to randomly get different value items, keep typing part of the name again to refresh the list (or simply pull out a workbench, set it up and combine several copies for a better one, then destroy the bench when you are done)

Such is the way YOU play.

One of many ways.

Remember this:

You are not the boss of me.

Doritos and Mountain Dew shall sustain a gamer for life.

This little piggy went to the store, this little piggy went to the fair, this little piggy went to the butcher and never came back.

And what Kunovega said will easily replace your items.

Hey thanks guys, I didn't even know a cheat mode existed. I used that to replace a few weapons. It's funny because I can't remember the last time I died but this time it was actually because of dehydration due to getting a phone call and not pausing it before getting up. I'm going to start a new map soon but creative mode definitely saved this one for me.
