DragonSlayer: The Legend of Heroes was released in 1990 for PC-9801, then it had a sequel of its own- DragonSlayer: The Legend of Heroes II. This duology is its own story that's known as the Iselhasa story.
The Gagharv Trilogy makes up 3-5: The Legend of Heroes III - White Witch (Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch in NA), The Legend of Heroes IV - A Tear of Vermillion, Legend of Heroes V - Cagesong of the Ocean were released in 1994, 1996, and 1999 for PC9801 and Windows. This trilogy is also a self-contained story.
Trails in the Sky is Legend of Heroes VI - Sora no Kiseki First Chapter. It's the first part of the Kiseki series within the Legend of Heroes series. Currently, it is made up of the following games:
Sora no Kiseki FC (Trails in the Sky) - Released originally for Windows in 2004, ported to PSP in 2006, PS3 in 2012
Sora no Kiseki SC - Released for Windows in 2006, PSP in 2007 and PS3 in 2013
Sora no Kiseki the 3rd - Released for Windows in 2007, PS3 in 2008, and PS3 in 2013.
Zero no Kiseki - Released for PSP in 2010, PC (China) in 2012, PS Vita (Zero no Kiseki Evolution) in 2012
Ao no Kiseki - Released for PSP in 2011, PC (China) in 2013, and PS Vita (Ao no Kiseki Evolution) in 2014
Sen no Kiseki - Released for PS3/PS Vita in 2013
Sen no Kiseki II - Coming this year in September 2014 for PS3 and PSVita
The Kiseki series makes up a single, continuous story that's, so far, been told in three arcs (Sora no Kiseki FC, SC, 3rd / Zero and Ao no Kiseki / Sen and Sen no Kiseki II) that have a different character set and so forth. However, the stories that were started, just get bigger, to become a larger, more encompassing series of events that start to wrap up other people in other parts of Zemuria. It's considered kind of groundbreaking in the concept that, at 7 games, it's still telling the same story.
I also play RPG's in order, So it would be a while before I would play this one seeing as it is the 6th game.
Again, thanks for the fast reply.
Thankfully, you don't need any of the games to play the Kiseki series. It's like you don't need the Iselhasa games to play Gagharv. They're pretty great like that.
At the very least, FC and SC both make a complete storyline for the most part, with minimal loose threads to worry about, and have extremely light references to the Gagharv trilogy- and even then, they're just playful references, with no requirements for knowing them.
I'd say wait and see on that one. Kondo's already said that Sen II's ending is 1) a gamechanger, and 2) extremely shocking. It'll probably close things up, but we're not really in a position to guess how /well/ things will be closed up.
Little did I know that this game had to do with that game, until I read up on the whole series.

This. And we're getting the second chapter later this year, hopefully.
Was the third game on PSP, or Vita? I can't remember. It's such a confusing franchise to follow (Why the **** can't anyone use NUMBERS any more?)

So it looks unlikely that we'll ever see the trilogy finished in english? That's lovely.
This was stated by omgfloofy, presumably in 'eir official capacity with that dev tag and all. And I find it reasonable to believe. (Too lazy to dig up the posts now...)
I think if the first 2 games sell well, we can expect the final chapter. It will be a slap to the fans if we finished 2 games and they just give a middle finger to us when we ask for the last part.
