Some optional quests are hidden and are known as ‘hidden quests’. These quests will not show up on the board and must be found by exploring and talking to NPCs. The side-quests in this game are more about rewarding you with more lore and a deeper understanding of the world, but it doesn not really affect the main story of the game in any important way.
IIRC there actually are two hidden changes to the ending at the extreme ends of the bracer rank, but they're both minor and neither substantially affect the story. If you get an extremely high bracer rank someone mentions it during the epilogue. If you basically go out of your way to ignore all sidequests and fail all decisions, you miss a phase of the final boss -- but it's not very likely you'll see it without following a guide just to know all the wrong stuff to do :P
Only other thing is what ^ said -- if you get max bracer points, you get some early starting goodies at the beginning of the second game. Again, nothing unique or essential unless you're playing a very high difficulty.
The starting goodies in SC are only perfect score though. But again, it's nothing big. Like, a decent lowbie accessory, a quartz you can make later on, and some tear balms.
In case you don't know, by the way, this game has autosaves. The autosaves can be found on Page-"0" exactly on page back from page-1. There are 10 files that will autosaves everytime you enter a new screen or finish a battle.
If you are looking to get max Bracer Rank, I'd recoommend this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=294731475
Well, in any case, good luck!
As much as I enjoyed FC Nightmare I REALLY don't recommend SC Nightmare. It's okay later on but the early parts are just way too horsecrap.
I slowly ended up going from "Just do the main quest + side quests from the board" in FC to " I guess I'll do everything to get 100% but nothing more" in SC to finally "Talk to all the npcs every single time the story progresses until they don't have new dialogue anymore!" towards the end of SC and Cold Steel, and even in the final case you can still miss stuff without a walkthrough. Makes me a bit paranoid sometimes, having to check over if I really did get all the stuff. :)
