The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Is it just me or is the Witness (Mother) a bit difficult?
i dont mind the difficulty creep (it gets on my nerves i admit) but playing against Mother in most cases becomes impossible without a godlike run, only then it becomes a battle of skill and wit.
seeing how the fight went from a top view fighting arena where you can see everything happen (which was what made antibirth unique to begin with) to a normal large room fight not only made things difficult but also downright annoying to fight in, i feel like it the level style should go back to the way antibirths level style was, or at least give us clearer view of the room.
whats your 2 cents?

Just like when you first played the game, take the time to learn its patterns and how to dodge them. It is a hard fight but it doesn't require godlike runs.

I would tweak the first phase a bit. The second one is fine.

it's just way too long, boss armor needs to go so you can actually stand a chance with normal stats. they made mega Satan like that, too. the only fight it works with is hush

repentances is just claustrophobic and most dodges feel like either pixel perfect unpredictable garbage and luck rather than skill, especially with the speed of the tears and some attacks that fill up the whole miniscule screen.
something i also hate is how much damage it tanks, its just not fun to fight against.
"claustrophobic" is actually the whole design intention with Mother.

The only borderline unfair attack is the fistula spit. Everything else about the fight is very good.

not only is that attack utter bs sometimes but it's just so dumb/goofy I'd rather have the laser eyes instead
apart from that it's an amazing boss that's completely fair and awesome to fight :D

I died to mom with a bunch of very good items and algiz the second time. She is much to tanky. It took me around 30 tries to get to her. She is bad. And it is very difficult to avoid getting hit. Does this bullet hell pattern even give someone the chance to doge. Obviously not me!

Nothing bad about goofy attacks from an otherwise serious boss :)

Hm but the laser attack seems much cooler to be the dedicated "goofy" attack than ping pong

With all the Legend of Zelda influences in the game, I'm actually kind of shocked it took so long to add such an attack. (You can even legit Dead Man's Volley if you have the Spirit Sword)

don't get the references sadly, but you mean when you use spirit sword to hit the fistula back and forwards between you and mom repeatedly?

Yeah, it's something of an LoZ tradition to have a boss that can only be damaged by using your sword to send its own attacks back at it.

Damn, that's awesome! The attention to detail is always top notch with Antibirth's dev team.

Fistula Spit has a mechanic which it can be redirected by a swinging weapon (Forgotten's Bone Club or the Spirit Sword, etc), but it sadly doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ on tears. Would be cool if you could do that with any kind of attack.
