I need to ask.. Whats with the WoW references?

I was reading reviews, and half of them reference WoW. Whats going on? Also sorry in advanced, I live under a rock.

It's because many years ago, before this game was even in development, a character in South Park mentioned a game called Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and preferred it to WoW.

Ohhh wow! That is actually quite amazing! I too was wondering about the WoW references in the reviews for this game.

So this game is giving me a Animal Crossing vibe. Is it similar?

A decade ago there was an episode of South park about WoW. While the main cast was playing WoW and coming up with some strategy for something (cant recall what problem they had) one of the kids said he didn't had the game and was playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure instead. Hence the meme in the review sections. Its kinda like that "the simsons did it already" meme
