(I'm playing a review copy and I can already confidently tell you this after a few hours of play).
That's silly to assume, some liked 1 but not 2....
I wasn't even aware you played PC games, Madam Secretary! :p
I can see being disappointed in Risen 2, but to like Risen 1 and hate Risen 2...makes no sense.
Regardless, a demo is merely a small slice of a game that shows you the gameplay, controls, etc. You won't know whether you like the full game by playing a demo. Therefor, Risen 1 OR Risen 2 is a pretty good "demo" for Risen 3. They both let you "preview" the gameplay, controls, etc.
I don't know about that. I absolutely hated Risen 2, I could not bring myself to finish that game. Believe it or not, I liked ArcaniA, which stole the Gothic IP from Phiranna more than Risen 2 :-\
On the other hand, I played hundreds of hours of Risen 1 on the 360. So it is possible to be a fan of Gothic / Risen but hate Risen 2. The game would have been infinitely better if they either completely eliminated the pirates or filled-in the naval travel to reach the level of interactivity you come to expect from a Gothic game. They do not usually leave important parts of the game out; if you have to craft an item, you don't simply point and click, you have to go through multiple steps using multiple different tools. Travel was implemented all wrong and it ruined the game :-\
As it stands, Assassin's Creed 4 did everything better than Risen 2, and that is not even an RPG or a genre/franchise I would normally even enjoy.
