Sharing Source Code with Github?
Hi All,

My friends and I are looking at beginning to work together on CF2.5 projects together and we're wondering if we'd be able to utilize GitHub to share the code with each other instead of having to email project files back and forth, is this possible? If not, what is a recommended way to share project files/documentation between team members.

So good news is Fusion 3 has the completely planned for, Bad news is e-mail is the way to go with Fusion 2.5, When I work in teams we first develop a platform of shared global values an strings and some framework. Then we each work on seperate pieces. Then merge them in a single MFA

So if I'm following you correctly, it's email to zip files back and forth but also better to design the base of the game in one mfa and then each person works on their own level or section until it's ready to be merged into the final MFA for full testing and release?

To add on to what Kisguri has said, you can utilize a shared dropbox to hold all of your mfa's instead of emailing them back and forth.

Hm, instead of e-mailing project back and forth, have you thought about some remote desktop/screen sharing app, such as Team Viewer? That may be solution too. One person has opened CF and project, then you work together on it by taking control of the mouse back and forth. Obviously, to make it nice and legal, everyone would need apprpriate CF license (unless you're masochist and go with CF free) but it sure beats emailing stuff. Plus it also means faster iteration on both the code and levels.

That would require both parties owning, and both parties being online at the same time. Again, just utilize dropbox or google drive.

While that's true for the owning part, even if there's time difference you could open TeamViewer session and send password/key/whatever it uses so the other guy or girl can connect while you're asleep and work on a project.

Plus you don't risk corrupting file/overwriting changes in case you both decide to save at the same time/decide to change the same stuff as the file is stored locally on the host's PC, which would be the case for dropbox/gdrive.
