can't get past full screen option screen (first screen) controller works on Big Picture, but won't work on game, although it ran fine with the demo.

It attempts to start in my library but the process closes a couple secs afterward. No screen or anything appears. Can anyone else confirm this on Win 7...? Update: If I directly attempt to start the demo directly from the game folder instead of through Steam, it throws this error...
