Repent Harlequin! Said the TickTockMan!
Harlen Ellison is a piece of work but damn his short stories are some of the best and most influential sci fi works of all time.

He's written some good stuff, and edited three "Dagerous Visions" anthologies, and wrote a memoir called "Memos From Purgatory," in which he'd never seen a copy in a used bookstore. Guess where I found it?

He only released the first two "Dangerous vision" anthologies, though. The third's been in development hell for decades now.

I haven't read a lot by him, I'm ashamed to say, but I have read the one referenced in the title, though it's been a while. Looking forward to finally read the original IHNMaIMS, which just came with the recent update.

I think I was in 7th grade when I read one of his anthologies. It was impressive. I'm not going to act smart, many of the stories from that anthology were hard to understand and quite complicated. I re-read them a few times before I *thought* I got them. I recall a gargoyle short that was particularly gruesome. Repent Harlequin was always my favorite though.

I am reading The Essential Ellison now and I've nearly finished it, I only disliked 1 story! ^^ I've fallen in love with the way he writes! XD
The references to some of the works in the 50 year collection version of The Essential Ellison in IHNMAIMS are so huge (literally quotes from stories and anecdotes), you'd think more people would have noticed!! XD
