how to kill your character

so, i've heard alot about this game bugging out and people getting stuck and them forcing to have to kill their character in order to restart. how do i kill the character? im at the end scenario and apparently you have to kill each character in order to get the ending

Just keep using the pillars or the skulls.

I havent played the game in a while so do hold it against me, but i believe if you didnt reach a requirement in each of the players stories, then they cant finish and reach their max ending, just what i think tho i dont fully remember

yeah, i followed that guide. i tried doing gorrister's endgame and the spoiler tells me to kill gorrister but...how? i use the totem of life on glyphis and she uses the hand-scanner but i use the handscanner and dont die

That guide seems to be incomplete (either that, or the author completely misremembered how the endgame works). As I recall, killing off characters is only needed if you want one of the bad endings or you need to extend the bridge and are using someone other than Nimdok. If you want one of the best endings or any of several particular bad endings, you need to first extend the bridge by the console where your character is teleported in. Without spoiling anything, on the other side of that bridge you get a lot more direction on what you need to do to finish the game.

Yup. All you have to do for the good ending is extend the bridge, (either with Nimdok, or you can use someone else after Nimdok has died) speak to the character you can bring to the center room, then do your business with the three heads you can speak to in the chapter. After this you can return to the center room and end the game.

The idea that you need to use each character in order to get the best ending is either superstition or simply does not apply to the Steam version of the game. The only catch is that you either need to use Nimdok to extend the bridge or have him unavailable so someone else will be able to do it. (Ted or Ellen are both capable, for example, but they won't do it if Nimdok is still available for use in the chapter)

If you want the best ending, it is true that 4 have to die, I won't say which. But each has a pillar they must activate and touch, with each touch slowly killing them.
