Is it possible to get permanently stuck?
I tried playing this game a few years ago, and remember giving up because I found that a guide described the need to do something that I hadn't done earlier in the game (Sierra style). Just now, I've tried finding a guide that will simply tell you how to avoid such traps, but am now unable to confirm that it's actually possible to get stuck due to a missing an item/interaction.

I'm not concerned with getting the ideal ending(s), just being able to make it through the game. Let me know either way, thanks.

It's possible to get stuck and be forced to restart certain chapters.

That's unfortunate. Are there any guides which simply tell you how to avoid these states instead of giving puzzle solutions?

I believe there's a few spoiler-free walkthroughs out there. Honestly there's only one offender in the whole game that's real nasty, which is in Gorrister's chapter. (an npc can lock you out of a door before you actually get the key to open it) The other one that's more elusive is Benny which apparently can glitch out and tunnel you into a game over (I've never been able to reproduce this personally, and you can always restart his chapter from scratch)

Alright, thanks for the responses.

A rather belated, and perhaps obvious piece of advice, but it's also a good idea to use multiple save slots. Rotating three save slots, moving on to the next one each time you do something significant, has always helped me avoid most pitfalls.
