Help against zoning peacock
First of all, I play Double and/or Painwheel mostly. My matches are usually pretty even online, and using my two characters I know most of their combos. Barrel loops, Luger loops, and so forth. However, even with all this, even AFTER putting over 100 hours in the console versions of the game and more on the PC one, I still cannot deal with a zoning peacock. I showed my girlfriend how to play a zoning peacock to help me get past it, and you know what conclusion I've come to? That a total noob who doesn't even play video games (like my GF) can beat moderately good players just by zoning Peackock.

All advice I find online as to fighting such a zone tactic boils down to 'your just not good enough' and 'I remember when I was that bad'. Seriously, Google it. There is NOTHING but insults being thrown around in these discussions. Once in a while someone mentions spamming character swaps to get close to her, but really? Is that REALLY a tactic?

For a game I would give a 10/10, best fighting game of the decade, this really bothers me. Why make a zone character with such powerful zoning in a game with NO OTHER ranged characters? Peacock is literally bringing a gun to a fist fight. And yes, I'm aware other characters have ranged moves, but Peacock is the only character purely focused on range.

Hell, her OFFICIAL tutorial opens along the lines of “It's perfectly fine to zone and wait for the time to run out. Your opponent won't like it, but it's a liable strategy!" This suggests that she was built from the ground up to be an annoying keep-away, and it sounds like a kid wrote it.
"Nuh uh it's fair you just arn't good enough!"

Another common suggestion for dealing with her is learning the pattern, blocking, jumping, and getting close to her. I can do this most of the time. THE PROBLEM IS that the chip damage adds up, and fast. By the time you get to her your health is decreased by at least 1/6, and even if I do land a few combos, it doesn't take long for her to get her distance back and resume zoning me to death.

I would be fine with all this if her melee attacks were weaker, but they are not. Again, even in her tutorial, it says something along the lines of “Peackocks physical attacks are still just as deadly as anyone elses, so don't be afraid to use them!"

Please help. Whenever I see someone pick Peacock I feel like rage quitting, and I don't want to be that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who quits yelling "overpowered, overpowered!"

So, please, help me.

This is flawed. You are not moderately good player if you can't win with a newbie Peacock. Good player can handle everything and Peacock isn't that powerful as you think.

I suggest you to search the forum. There are lot's of thread "How to deal with Peacock". Keep training and change your mindset. You can win.

Peacock throws projectile -> Double does backwards Car

There, now you're in on her and you can beat her ass.

Even better if you have 2 meters, you do Car DHC into Hatred Install and get a full combo and pressure after it.

Actually if Double has super meter and is standing on the ground, Peaock can't throw any projectiles because you can just use the Car.

She's defenseless when using any ranged attacks, it's just knowing which way to go, how to interrupt them, and then just keep on top of them so they can't do much.

what do I know though I'm a terrible Peacock but I can help you practice sometime if you like

You have two options in this matchup.

Double/PW+cr.MP Assist
PW/Double+HK.Bomber

Bomber, if it comes out in full, will give you a lot of time to fly in behind it, due to it's long animation. However, calling it mindlessly will cause a lot of damage to rack up in a short amount of time.

I usually run Double/PW, and focus less on approaching, and more on building meter. Don't force yourself into range. Play a game of s.HP xx Luger, punishing assists, and slow approach.

Once you have 2 Meters, you can punish any George calls on reaction with Double Car DHC Install for a full combo (Or lead into a sweet PW reset for the kill).

Now that you can punish George on reaction, Peacock must stop calling George.

Now that Peacock has stopped calling George, you can move forward.

Now that you can move forward, you can get in.

Now that you can get in, you can murder Peacock.
Use MK.Bomber, it's alot safer. HK is unsafe and you're giving peacock free assist hits.
Watch out for covered teleports (lk bomb/mk bomb, teleport).
I don't play either characters so i can't really give you much match up advice, just general tips.

"Peacock isn't that powerful as you think."

Then why are there never any threads on "how to deal with cerabella?" Like it or not, Peacock has a latent advantage over other characters.I do also want to point out that you basically siad the same thing every forum post said, along the lines of 'your not good if you cant win, get good' without giving any actual advice.

HOWEVER, your right. If my GF with no experiance can beat me, I must be missing -something-. I'll keep practicing and take the other advice in this thread and see if I can do any better against peacock.

Also, I like you. We are both born of fast.
"Gotta go fast"

Thanks everyone, I'll keep practicing.

--Edit--

I didn't mean for any of that to be rude or sarcastic, for the record.

Most of the options are already mentioned and I'll +1 that Back car reversal option. Much more effective than you think. Using meter to save your own behind can go a long way.

Also, Painwheel has her jumping super armors which can get you somewhere.

Peacock is like the Morrigan of this game. Bullet hell Touhou games Skullgirls style!
