The Station also requires an antenna.

As Kunzite said, make sure the station has an antenna, and make sure the antenna and remote control you want to tap into belong to you. In the top left of the control panel, select the ship in the drop down, navigate to the remote control block, and click control. This one recommends putting a camera on the ship so you can see where you're going.

Both vehicles/stations need to have antenna
Both vehicles/stations need to have power
The one you wish to control requires a remote control.

-From a pilot chair on your station/ship access your control panel.
-In the top left corner you will find a drop down menu.
-Select the ship you are trying to control in this menu.
-In the control panel select the Remote Control block, click the button that says 'Control'

So I am having issues with this too. I sit in the control chair on my station and the other ship is just not on the dropdow.

station has antenna and power
ship has antenna, remote (and camera) and power
both antenna are set to broadcast
I am the owner.

From the ship i can see the station in the dropdown, but not the reverse.

Do i need a "flight chair"? instead of the normal station control?

btw mrraybarker, is the range of both antennas big enough since they need to be able to reach one another? I noticed that this can sometimes cause problems as well.

1: Possible connector issue.
If the drone you're trying to control is connected to the same ship/station with connectors. (I'm assuming you're in the cockpit/seat of the station.) Then the game considers them to be part of the same 'ship' object.

The connectors join them so it will act like one big ship with two antennas. (No point in trying to connect remotely to the same ship via a second antenna.)

Get out of the seat and get close enough to remote in yourself (And you may be remoting into the station if they're connected.), or break the connector link, then try again.

2: Permissions issues.
Make sure you own both the antennas and remote control blocks. (It won't work if the owner is 'Nobody').

3: Power & Visibility
Make sure they both are powered.
Also make sure you are able to see two separate broadcast points from the antennas. If one isn't showing any text in the HUD something's wrong with that one. (Probably power.)

@mrraybaker
Most likely the connector issue, see my #1

i was having issues with some stuff that people were talking about that just didnt exist in my game. then i heard that if you started a game before updated features came out then you have to start a new game to use them.

s'far as I know, it also helps to have both units in the same faction.

Nope, they are literally right next door.

Interestingly i found I could control my station from my ship....

I have it built as mentioned, at the top with the remote on what i want to controll. but perhaps i need it on what i want to controll with?

@mrraybaker

no, but are the antenna and remote control block of your ship set to you as owner? Though I guess you already checked that.

You only actually need to own the antenna.

Besides the usual requirements for a flyable ship (minus a control console, or cockpit), a remote ship requires:

An antenna.

A remote control block.

The antennae are the only blocks you actually need to own. Make sure you've set the antenna range for the distance you intent to fly it. The game incorrectly requires this antenna to be set for the intended remote range rather than only requiring the base antenna for that.

That's all you actually need to remote fly a ship but if you want to be able to fly it further than about 300m then you'll want something with a larger antenna than your suit. Since you have a station, that will do fine. You shouldn't need anything special on your station besides that big ol' antenna. Any form of control panel access will do, even a connector port.

I did it. In station control panel you have to choose the ship. There is a drop-down menu in high left corner.

But i go to my cargo bay i can do it.... of course i need a camera or somthing i guess as i can't actually see the dang thing lol
