Does Industrial Overhaul only work with IO planets?

You're asking if a pack of blocks will work with planets. They're *blocks*. They'll work anyplace you can place them. They don't care where they're placed.

Your earlier thread about modded planets is also answered by this.

That's good. I'm worried about the IO ores not being added in to workshop planets. Could this be a problem?

Hi, the best is to always use a testing world where you load one Mod at a time, to learn how it works, know if broken, and load one Mod at a time to know if some are conflicting.

-> Some Mods can break the save files where you can lose your Fav save if you don't know anything about the Mod = Forgot to test first.

You may follow the steps we all do after a game update to find the mods that needs to be removed and reported.

How to test a world or find broken/conflicting Mods :

1 - Select your save.
2 - Click the "Save as" button on the left.
3 - Change the save name to create a *copy.
4 - Withdraw or add one Mod at a time in the copy.

5 - Report to the Mod author (on WS item page) when broken Mod found so he can fix/update his Mod, always very kind to let them know.

*copy
Never test with your original save, better create a copy and fix the original save when solution found in the copy, this way you will not mess up your save.

This way you know what you are doing before adding to your Fav save.

Help me understand exactly what is meant by an "IO" planet. I've never heard of such a thing.

It's a Must to use a testing world to see if all good, well asking the Mod author is OK too but better test before reporting, imo.

1 - Create a new world.
2 - add the "Industrial Overhaul - v1.61" Mod.
3 - Load to test if all good.
4 - Save/exit to add a second Mod.

and so on for all the Mods you want to use.

5 - Add to your Fav save once you found all the working Mods.

That might take forever but yep that's the bestest way to make sure all the mods work.

It takes time when using a lot of Mods, that is for sure, I broke a few saves at a point of "no return" where I lost all in, I prefer to test before using now ;)

-> We get used to at some point, because of the testing after a major game update to find the Mods that must be updated to the new game version.

We find our Fav Mods that rarely need to be updated ;)

Editing my first sbc files and I think I corrupted my save. Luckily I made a backup. Thanks for reminding me that would have sucked.

There are new ores added to the game according to the game's docs.

The way that planets are coded for ore veins have to be defined and mapped around a planet. If you spawn in a planet that's not been made for IO, then it will be missing all of the new ores. It looks as if they've modded the vanilla planets for IO's ores. But if you spawned in a planet from the workshop that wasn't specifically made for IO... you'd just get vanilla ores.

Modding Workship planets to have Industrial Overhaul's ores would be a timeconsuming undertaking. Creating ore patches requires editing a lot of code and redesigning graphical content (RGB maps) for each planet.

I'd probably recommend only using the planet-sets that come with IO... or if someone specifically has made additional planets for it.

I did find one set of workshop planets called Ares made for IO. That with the vanilla planets I think will be enough. Hopefully more get made in the future.
