Spaceman Spiff's collection :

Spaceman should have shared that solution ;)

Otherwise its generally a matter of luck, finding an all ice asteroid out in space is a numbers game but when you do its best to mark it for future use or even dropping a station on it that automates ice production, though that is more for after you find one.
So yeah try the moon if close by, otherwise getting to a planet is another solution.
Do you know where they are?

and why I shared a fast solution so to copy/paste the GPS coords in from Spaceman Spiff ;)

I can tell you will not need the GPS coords at some point, because you will know where to search ;)
In the vanilla space start, you're using ion thrusters, so the only thing you're needing ice for is oxygen and maybe some hydrogen for the jetpack. If you're starting on a planet and going to space, you should be taking plenty of hydrogen and some oxygen with you.
I had forgotten about that! I used to go about it through the trash settings I think it is. I got tired of that so I decided to just reload in creative.
