I Can Appreciate Logistics Now
Often we start a game with a small ship, build bigger ships, and so on until we have massive ships or bases. Having seen the supply chain from the bottom to the top, I can begin to understand the logistics of a grand empire spanning many planets and systems.

I started a new Mars Survival game the other night and because I'm more experienced than in days past, I got off to a faster start. By the end of Phase 1 I had an automated mining system. Then came the huge bank of Refineries. Along the way I needed storage for MILLIONS of kilos of ore. Some of the ore veins were kind of far away so I set them up to run automatically and built drones to shuttle resources back and forth.

Today I noticed that I actually had MORE resources tied up in getting the material from A to B than I had processing and storing it.

This has changed my ideas with regards to how to build big ships or long-haul freighters.

Has anyone else used this game to help them understand something OUTSIDE the game?

Then once you realize ALL the planets are the same exact thing just more or less gravity with or without an atmosphere you will hit the boredom level :)

Add in all the other stuff an empire would have to ship around, like food, staff, livestock etc etc and the idea is a really daunting one. Its kinda why id love food in SE as a resource to transport around, maybe with some special requirements.

Cant really think of a time the game made me understand something outside it. It did make me have to forget everything i knew about physics and learn SE's version though :)

Scarce resources mod makes the game way more enjoyable for me. It exactlt tackles this problem.

Which is why everyone should run scarce resources in single player games. Not every resource on every planet

Edit:Just saw that Trepthesnake had the same idea

In case no one's mentioned it yet, you should use the scarce resources mod. Just sayin'...

Yeah, that's really a bummber, no reason to ever explore anything, because the only difference is topography, texture and gravity.

These are the things that are clear downside of sandbox games, sure we do have mods for pve, however all we'll get from that is sadly the same presets everywhere again.

The sad realization its a pretty well made sandbox and not survival exploration game.

Everyday is a tragic reminder of just how under-appreciated you are eh :)
