How To Take Ownership of A Captured Ship
Me and my buddy are playing survival together and we have a knack for taking pirate ships. Is there anyway we can claim the ship as ours without grinding and re-welding the whole thing?

Grind and repair something that has an access point. Open up the "computer" and assign from there.

Yeah, having to grind everything and weld it back was the norm a while ago. Now you just need to do it with one block. There are comments about people taking 10 interior plates and 5 construction components and make the basic flight seat anywhere on the pirate ship, then claiming all the blocks from there.

How to protect my ship from such an attack?

Does this also claim the regular blocks?.. I don't want my turrets shooting up the light and heavy armor blocks on the ship.

To be honest, I have not tested it thoroughly. I've only used it to disable defences quickly.

Wait, so how do you claim the ship? We've built a seat on them but most of the blocks are still owned by the pirate faction.

Open up the terminal interface, select a block from the left, press ctrl-A to select all, then look on the right side for ownership and change ownership to you. Then you can change all the blocks so you are the owner.

Bear in mind, this was brought up to Keen as a bug, so things might change.

If you're open to adding some mods to your game, there is a hacking computer mod. You slap it down on a grid that you don't own and over time it will take control of blocks on that grid for you. This can be used against other players as well, so there is a Firewall block that defends against the computer. Might save some of the grind for you and change up the experience a bit.

So what you guys have suggested doesnt work. Selecting all the blocks and changing their ownership to "me" still doesnt give me access to every block.

I believe that you need admin status in order to change ownership of other players' blocks.

Are you trying in your own solo game or on a public server? Not sure about it but maybe it can be switched off. All I know is "Good.bot" told me to do it and it worked for me.

I'm playing with a friend, he is running the server

Youll have to press k to open the control menu, select something in there, select everything (CTRL + A) and click the transfer ownership button
