Surprised to see an update for this title! I remember there being a game breaking bug in the watch tower above the library where i was unable to see outside. Let's see if thats been fixed!

EDIT: Looks like it has!!! Thanks :D

I'm glad to see the devs haven't stopped working on the game; nice work.

Why are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? Be thankful there are people working on this title from 4 years ago.

Looks great!! However, noticing some textures missing at distance (pop in). Looking inside the library from outside close looks fine, but as you back away from the libary entrance, the inside library texture dissappears and it looks as if you're seeing through to the mountain. This also happens with the room to the right, down past the fountain with the sunken ship. Windows 7 and Nividia 980Ti w/ 398.82 drivers.

It's always interesting firing this up when there's an update to see what's changed, and the new materials look good, but there's a lot of room for improvement when it's turned into a hodgepodge of different assets from different versions and even iterations of the same game from over the years.
The game is stable, performance is good, but these updated materials tend to be real improvements over prior iterations and some of the new designs clash with the older materials that weren't given the same treatments (ironic because some of the new assets take after their OG Myst counterparts).

I can't imagine you guys are willing to spare resources and manpower continuing to update the assets and tweak the composition of the art until production ramps up on the collector's discs and it's a done deal, but the more realmyst 2000 assets updated and replaced, the more bugs fixed, the better.

Channelwood, Stoneship, and Selenitic's assets could still use some updating.

I LOVE IT! It's awesome that improvements are being made. I LOVE CYAN AND EVERYTHING THEY DO FOREVER! Nothing could change this opinion of mine. I'll be getting the whole updated-for-Windows 10-Myst collection here on Steam as soon as it's available, and I can afford it! :)

One thing I do still notice, as has been the case since the beginning, however, is that at the starting position, to the left is the hidden forechamber entrance. While looking this way and two more steps into the forechamber corridor, frame rate happens to tank, as though the whole of the island from this point of view were being rendered. Perhaps some LOD culling as has been implemented elsewhere (resulting in the pop-in others have mentioned, but it's better than tanking the frame rate if the objects are small enough when they appear) could be done here.

I was just coming to see if this game had been updated in a while ;) Looks like it's my lucky day! I haven't played since release. Have I missed a lot?

Thanks for the update guys. The textures are definitely sharper and it no longer runs like a slideshow with my 1080 ti.

In case anyone is curious about how the upgrade looks compared to the old, here you go: https://i.imgur.com/aKeoFTr.png

I had taken the originals when I was looking for references for my own remaster :P Looks like they majorly increased the poly counts for the majority of the models and are using better textures. Overall, a pretty nice (and free!) update.

Agent, are you sure those old screenshots came from the Masterpiece Edition of RealMyst and not the original version of RealMyst (originally released around 2000 or so)?

I only ask because the difference is so striking!
Agent4054© Sep 21, 2018 @ 6:12am
Very sure. The original did not have any form of normal/bump mapping or any groundcover vegetation, while the masterpiece did. Also, original look was less saturated.

Texture res of the original is also kind of.... bad by comparison haha http://ckopo.net/uploads/posts/2011-10/1318071221_real-myst-3.jpg

Agent it looks like your before picture was with Medium settings, while the updated pictures are on high settings. Cause I kow for sure there was foliage prior to this version.
But besides that detail thank you for showing the difference!

That's entirely possible. I did get a new graphics card since I took that screenshot. I might have had it at a lower setting at the time. Thanks for clarifying :)
